- #69 [fotheringay], 13-09-08 06:16Just finished watching the Last Night of The Proms 2013. As always I thoroughly enjoy the performance.
Tonight is also the history making night for the proms. Marin Alsop, the American conductor and violinist, has become the first woman conductor for the last night of the proms. She produced an inspirational speech and hoping that we as human race should never underestimate the power of music. Though herself has made history she was shock to find that we have to wait until 2013 to have the first woman conductor. She also hopes that more young women and young people as a whole would continue to participate in music.
The audience obviously have given her much emotion as at the end of the night I can see her physically moved by the response of the audience.
What a good night.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
I read the news that the 10-year old daughter of a Chinese activist was refused education by the local authority. I was absolutely stunt by this news. Luckily she is now able to continue her education in US.
Malala Yousafzai was shot in the head by the Taliban because she advocates education for the girls. She has my utmost respect and I am glad that she survives from her injury and is able to continue what she promotes.
She was given the honour to open the new library in Birmingham and I really am touched by her words. You may have thought that this is just a norm in a modern society. In actual reality how many has yet to learn to read.
"The content of a book holds the power of education and it is with this power that we can shape our future and change lives.
There is no greater weapon than knowledge and no greater source of knowledge than the written word."

With most population suffer from the bad economy in the last few years. The numbers of the Poundland stores opened are growing fast. You see many people didn't use to go there they would certainly visit more then ever.
Some even go even further........by 1 penny..."99P Store".
Like they say a penny saved is a penny saved, how irony is that. - #76 [Somonica], 13-09-20 08:20chi 大早。

Welcome. - #79 [fotheringay], 13-09-25 04:30We always enjoy walking along Norfolk coat. We went back to this beach which is quite popular with the locals because of the dead trees lying on the beach. They make quite a impact to the long and lonely coastline.
We went there last weekend and sadly to discover that most trees have been washed off by the strong wave from the North Sea.
These were taken last year.
