The Bee Gees Golden Album was indeed a compilation album with songs from 1966-1968.
What I wasn't sure about Wiki was that they stated, as I quited, "so by standard practice at the time, it was not mixed to stereo." And again "The song was unavailable until 1990 when it was mixed in stereo for the first time and extended to 3:19 for inclusion on the Tales from the Brothers Gibb boxset. "
My argument not on whether it is a single or if included in a studio album but the point that it was indeed mixed as Stereo included in Bee Gees Golden Album. It was in 1968 so there was a stereo version well before 1990!!
Would you agree? - #23 [myml], 23-01-30 21:39reply #21
Stereo sound and monophonic sound are two different things and should not be confused. Before 1957, people had no choice. It was not until the appearance of stereo sound that people began to listen to stereo sound.
Whether you like monophonic or not is a personal matter -

The songs in the album are all the early songs of Bee Gees(1967 to 1968) . It is a (LP Compilation) of early Bee Gees According to Wikipedia information, for example, another song "Sinking Ships" is also from 1968. single release
Second, according to DISCOGS, this (LP, Compilation) was released in December 1968, and this song was Released March 1968. It is not known whether this is a (LP, Compilation) product of the later Bee Gees music. , I'm not sure - #21 [fotheringay], 23-01-30 10:53With regards to if Mono is less ideal in sound than Stereo pressing I would challenge that.
I have their "Bee Gees First " in both Mono and Stereo first pressing. They have different sound for sure and you may think the Stereo version would be better.
Personally I prefer the Mono issue as it present better vocal in isolation.
It's very much like the Beatles.
George Martin had deliberately engineer the sound in Mono configuration in the first place for their early recording then remix to Stereo.
His argument was that stereo recording was still in the infantry and mono recording will give the vocal more beautiful and also playing drums with full ferocity. That was the sound the people loved at the time.
It was only after The White Album then better stereo mixing advanced in pace. - #20 [fotheringay], 23-01-30 09:56I was also watching this video at the time but I knew them long before this song.
I have this "World Star Festival" LP in my collection.
I am not sure if Wiki is correct that it only ever releases as 45" Single in January 1968.
I have this Japanese pressing of Bee Gees "Golden Album" which was released in December 1968. They were all Stereo issues(unless misinformed).

It is clearly shown as Track No.5 on B side.
Here are the pictures of my LP, in Mint condition, complete Obi and booklet inside.

The Singer Sang His Song 這首歌曲直到1990年才首次以立體聲錄製,以便列入“Tales From The Brothers Gibb, A History in Song 1967-1990 Box set”的故事集。 - #18 [myml], 23-01-29 22:03reply #17

I believe it is a good idea to use it for collection, but as Hong Kong is so small or in a humid place in Southeast Asia, storage and maintenance are a big problem - #15 [fotheringay], 23-01-27 18:57
Why do you need 2 copies of vol 2 ?
==========================================================================================
Why not? I have 10 of these records. Some are better condition than the others, or they are different pressings from different regions and years.
I have about 100 records of the Bee Gees and they were collected when people were throwing them away for nothing. I couldn't let it happen.
I think I made more videos on Bee Gees than any other artists. - #14 [myml], 23-01-27 09:36
reply #13,
Agree with your comment on "Wouldn't' I be Someone"
I only have one vol 2 and the second one is on CD,
Why do you need 2 copies of vol 2 ?
if you have the version of the "Wouldn't' I be Someone" , you will love it I sure - #13 [fotheringay], 23-01-27 08:38
I can tell you the difference.
Copy made in Hong Kong or Singapore has included the song "Wouldn't' I be Someone" and it doesn't appear in other issues.
The song wasn't very successful but funny enough it was No.1 both in Hong Kong and Costa Rica. I guess that's why it's included in the HK issue. I have both issues.
Personally I love this song very much. The mood was slowly building up and I particularly love the guitar riff which adds so. much impact to the song, then it fades off with the kind of slow sentiment.
It was released at the time that the Bee Gees was out of favourite with their friends and in need of new direction. They struggled with the sales of the records and they even had to perform in small clubs to support the band and family going.
It's their darkest hour!

Can you show me the back of bee gees vol 2? Because I want to see if your version is the same as mine - #11 [fotheringay], 23-01-27 07:36
I could probably contradict myself when I say yes given that I am more likely should be described as a Rock fan.
That said there is no need to be ashamed of being a loyal fan of the Bee Gees.
Barry Gibb may be the only remaining member of the Original Bee Gess but the legacy continues when he scored Chart No.1 couple years ago, 40 years after their last No.1.
Part of their records in my collection and please don't relate them to the argument of CD and LP. Their music are more than them.

I like the early music of this band, are you their fans? - #9 [fotheringay], 23-01-26 19:23
Well, it's lovely to see there are still some loving the Bee Gees.
Like most we grew up with the Bee Gees when TVB was showing their music videos when there was typhoon and normal broadcasting would be changed to accommodate the important typhoon news.
At least we share something in common and no need to argue CD or LP, just music.
Early acoustic recording and with strings arrangement re-recording. - #8 [myml], 23-01-26 07:04

Rita Coolidge
2007年2月5日,Reprise Records 重新發行了 Horizontal 立體聲和單聲道專輯CD,All Music 的 Bruce Eder 對專輯中兩首歌曲“World”及"And the Sun Will Shine"都作出正面評價,
Robin Gibb 憶述:"And the Sun Will Shine"這首歌曲是我的最愛之一,它是壹首非常情緒化的歌曲,錄製這首歌時我們並沒有任何特定的模式,我們只是唱了壹下,然後唱了一遍。

I ain't confused but it is wise to explain to other people who may have the experience.
Indeed it's a personal choice.
Change of subject and some most expensive records(Jazz, R&R and Folks) are actually mono releases, not only just because of the rarity but also the recording format some people preferred.
