- #401 [bambino], 21-01-08 11:041st crack at 16 mins might be too long. i understand why you roast 250g at 500g setting. looks like Behmor is running under-powered.
- #400 [hahayanyan], 21-01-08 10:47temperature is fixed , there are programmed preset
but there is way to alter the timing and take a look the profile
but i do not use those preset , as i am using 500 gram setting for 250 grams
P1 and p3 is very useful , sometime p4
if it is 500 gram beans at 500 gram setting...the first crack for most of the bean is always at beyond 16 mins
for for 250 grams at 500 grams setting ...the first crack is always around 12 mins to 15 mins
so by having 250 gram beans at 500 grams setting ...it give a big enough for timing window to get so many outcome for a very light roast or super oily and dark roast...by P1 , P3 and P4
i guess hot air is better.. if there is freedom to tune the temperature.. too thermal gradient...etc.. i suppose those higher end roaster should have those features ... sensible upgrade wishes..haha
i do love to explore a different on set thermal gradient
The things is I hardly. Buy same bean more than 3kg, I do not think I can understand the thermal profile ofr that bean for some. Unique taste. Within 3kg..from 9 to 12 roasting session hahA
If someone who like particular bean for long term... And into this home roasting hobby... Worth to invest more than just those behmor... By having something with thermal profiling capability

there are other choices like Gene Cafe which i suspect would be similar to Behmor though. Bocaboca looks interesting and uses halogen lamp as heating source.
home roasters use different heat sources like hot air, fire & halogen lamp and they bring out slightly different tastes...

- #398 [hahayanyan], 21-01-08 10:08Yes by the behmor, th e trick of using the behmor.. Is to using their 500gram setting for 225 grams
Haha
The darker one... I thought the crack was first... But actually when I pay attention to the crack sound.. It was already 2nd haha
Kind of quite even.. Kind of someone buy some not too cheap roasts beans and happy with that consistency lol
Sowmtime I check out other roaster...
But that behmor just so stable never have any issue for so many yrs.... Sometime I wonder.. If that broke.. What should I get next haha

I would say... All we need is an oscar
Unless we want to have thermal profiling
Such as we want this cup at 93 degree C but not 95Cor relatively lower or higher brewing temperature - #394 [ich], 21-01-04 16:33#393
Bought an Oscar in secondhand market may be 4 or 5 years ago. Serving my family faithfully non stop since. Prepared over 2000 cups and still running strong, never missed a beat. Steam froth is strong, really love this machine - #393 [hahayanyan], 21-01-04 16:24from all those yrs of many different machine...i believe anything bigger than oscar for home is just for sense of ownership but not really for coffee taste quality enhancement
just some of those better machine is kind of still affordable , then why not
haha - #392 [yukclee], 21-01-04 11:43#389 perfect idea...will copy it and use. I only use a Simonelli Oscar 2, which I find it very cost effective for an infrequent coffee drinker like me and it has a very good milk frother.
- #391 [hahayanyan], 21-01-03 13:58全自動機 with grinder too ? from bean to cup that kind of 全自動機?
Then upside down as shown at photo.. A few shake... Just like we make cocktail... Haha
Coffee grind... Is then super even... Into the Portafilter basket haha
I find that many jug have almost prefect diameter for 58mm basket... Fit prefect forthe task
HahA - #388 [hahayanyan], 21-01-02 10:03
Haha so far.. 2021..ihave one good roast and one not too good roast..
Haha - #387 [yukclee], 21-01-02 09:55
這個情況,咖啡一定會比較苦澀嘅 or a taste of burnt.. Etc..
從這些video你會見到有啲細孔比較遲先出coffee, 喺 中間一段時間 仲有一條頭髮絲嘅小水柱噴出, that is the channel for easier water path... we do not want to see
When review the coffee pad,
亦都係未凳好 粉, 已經心急咁 tamper 壓下去 甚至高低不水平 a little bit too much
Haha

- #383 [hahayanyan], 20-12-25 09:23
Better first shot today
Should be better if the grind is little bit finer
The. Morning first shot I aim for 1:3
The afternoon shot I aim for 1:2
Haha
