- #6160 [fotheringay], 25-11-20 01:47When I played the SL from my friend I also had the chance to use some of his R lenses, 50mm/f2 3-cams, 100mm/f2.8 APO-Marco and the 75-200 Zoom.
I had used the 50/f2 before so I know what to expect, basically the R version of M.
75-210 was not real Leica Glasses but a Japanese cheap pretender.
Then the 100/2.8 APO and I only had one word for it ..................."Stunning!!
Eventually I bought the 50/f2 as I always love 50mm.

No I traded in my M8.2 for M9 after using it for 6 months. But I still got the Digilux 3, R8 and M6. ;-)
M8 or 8.2 was the first M digital and even the sensor size was only 10+ MP and had to use IR filters when shooting outdoor....
A lot of fun but image quality is unique and colourful.

Do you still have your M8 or M8.2?
All these years I had 3 M8 and they came and gone. I believe it has a cult status now because of the CCD sensor.
Apart from some Leica own lenses I also owned quite a few Voigtländer.
I had very fond memory with two lenses, one being the Ultron 35mm f/1.7 Aspherical and the other being 50mm APO.
Some old pictures taken with either of these two lenses.

Selected from over 170 entries in a national design competition, the winning concept by Besley and Spresser beautifully reflects the land, sky and sea of Barangaroo. The pavilion’s façade features a bespoke oyster shell terrazzo—crafted from more than 450,000 recycled Sydney rock oysters blended with Australian marble chip.
With its sweeping harbour views and generous 18-metre seating area, it’s a standout destination to meet, relax, and take in the atmosphere.

Echoing the natural beauty of Sydney’s harbour headlands, the Pier Pavilion at Barangaroo features a striking landscaped roof with endemic native plants, sandstone boulders and hollow logs, all supported by a sustainably built Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) deck.
Planted with nearly 2,500 drought-tolerant Australian species, this living roof supports local biodiversity by attracting native birds and insects, creating essential microhabitats. The responsibly sourced timber was chosen for its long-lasting durability, low carbon footprint and capacity for future disassembly. - #6153 [fotheringay], 25-11-18 06:13Not his, I had it for a few months from my friend who was getting the SL2.
I did try if it would suit me. Nice camera but the Leica lenses are just too much for me. If only using other makes and that is not fair.

Do you still have the SL and 90 Cron? Or they are your bro-in-law's?
I was using them the last few days, need to adjust my routine with the 90 at the beginning .

Get out in the garden and shoot with the Charcoal-broken-Lux.

Personally it is worth visiting if you are into photography and into design. I have been there twice and like to go again. If we have enough people to go, I can ask for a special guided tour and even stay in the hotel there.

Moreover, how many will ever leave the cave or hole? How many will try new experience or experiment new ideas? Just touch and say no or do it until the last breath?
There are reasons to hold on to something broken, it is not about $$$, but more others reasons. Only the owner can tell and no one can judge it is right or wrong.
Imagination or creativities are limitless so we should push for it. Enjoy every moment since our life do have limit. :-) - #6146 [fotheringay], 25-11-16 18:42Yes, I am very much in line with your statement.
At the end of the day they are all tools. "Charcoals" which I really appreciate the notion.
Individuals have their own preferences in choosing their tools. There is no right or wrong the ways in deploying them. It would be disrespectful to tell Picasso to use No.3 brush instead of No.4.
Using their advantages or disadvantages which I particularly enjoy, due to my circumstances, as it is both challenging and exciting.
I can't disagree more that utilising post processing is as important as using the precision tools of camera and lenses. My broken charcoal has demonstrated the power of the editing tool which can transform a picture from nothing to something.
The M-E has a corroded sensor which Leica will not replace any more, so basically another broken metal. It doesn't man it can't take pictures but with lots of damaged pixels shown with the file.
If you have so much spare time to kill like me and if you don't mind taking time and be patience you would enjoy the post-editing.
For example, the RAW file has clear damaged pixels shown in the sky and there are many with the rapeseeds but it is not showing.
I take a little bit of to do it with PS and LR and the result is not too bad.
Original RAW file.

So if we like to get a £7000 Leica charcoal, be happy and enjoy. However, a broken charcoal or TT costs just under £200 are usable and be same, happy and enjoy.
Most of us learned that brands are for different people so one could be solo and others are jumpers from one to another. Just like relationship :-)
Hardware is the first step and post processing is next. Some are more into compositions and timing during photoshooting. So many ways to excel and be creative. - #6144 [fotheringay], 25-11-16 06:17............... your Bro-in-law should have plenty for you to use..................
He is now using Hasselblad 907X 100C and X2D.....and Fuji mostly, Leica on the shelf.
I am happy with what I use anyway.

Bit heavy and bulky but after holding it for while it is not too bad. Great combo for travelling as it covers 24-90 with one lens. Love the autofocus point and shoot.
Since you are in HK, your Bro-in-law should have plenty for you to use.
90 Cron is not heavy but bulky. Bring it to travel and 90mm only can be challenging. So another wide angle will be useful. I used to bring 21 2.8 and R80 1.4 or 24 1.4 and 50 1.4 or just 35 1.4.... Lately the 28 5.6 is my first choice for obvious reason :-)
So hard to decide when travelling.

It wasn't that heavy and I didn't use it everyday.
I also use a cheap.........TTArtisan 21mm/f1.5.
as much as I love the Leica but £7000!!!!! No way, this TT costs just under £200, not bad at all!

Until I had a chance to buy the 50 1.0 V4 and the 50 2.8 collapsable I began my journey with M50's. After starting M9, I bought the 50 1.4 and later 50 2.0 APO, which is a great combo with M9. My last 50 was the reissue of 1.2 which is also one of my favourites.
This was taken before I got the reissue 1.2
Now the latest M50's in black
