- #4 [hahayanyan], 21-07-16 21:23Hi Mr monster with 3 eyes
Haha how are those 4 machines compared to each other?
Cheers - #5 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 21:31The best of best is Telefunken T9 tube, a real masterpiece which blow away any Studer or Japanese Pro master grade away by miles even top gear C37 can’t be matching rival , not to say entry level of decks like Akai,Teac or Revox A77, B77.....
- #6 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 21:48Telefunken T9 Tube Masterpiece
- #7 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 22:03Vintage R2R gears
- #8 [hahayanyan], 21-07-16 22:03Form your opinion.... What make that T9 better than them?
Cheers - #9 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 22:11The solid mechanics tapes path system, together with tube amp v66/67 or v86/87 produce exceptional sounds and well balanced, while Studer sounds very flat n boring, may better for recording. Jap table decks are not much different to their audio gears n AV amp, least impressive if all. American Ampex 102 is also quite good in sound as from my 1/2” model ….
- #10 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 22:13See what a workmanship of AEG Telefunken T9
- #11 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 22:15See what a huge mother, larger than M10, C37 and absolutely quiet n stable
- #12 [hahayanyan], 21-07-16 22:21When a piece of electonic sound less flat... They must be better... In term of many aspect... I came across the internal photo of the T9 in the past... Always amazed by the look.. With all those custom switches.. Etc.. Head sizes.. Etc
U mostly listen to pre recorded material or make your own recording of some sort? If you make our own recording which tape u trust the most?
Is 30ips really better than 15ips?
Haha thx for sharing...
I guess not much people in the world, some.. Not really not many having that collection of reel machine under one roof..
Seem make sense to make something out of the v66/67 circuit... May yeild 1/10 of the preformance for some application haha
Omg.. The motor is hugeeee

- #14 [hahayanyan], 21-07-16 22:28it was 1 pair of them from German ...fairly decent..at less than 10K euro..may be 4 yrs ago.. haha too bad..too bad.. not any more
- #15 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 22:44I do both, buy from European studio like Horchhouse, fonte or AP 2T 15ips prerecorded music tapes and also do my own recording on new RTM SM900 / 911. The new SM900 has the best spec in terms of dynamic range, highest in S/N n Biased with much more headroom, means you can push up the tape with more +db without distortion!
SM900 best for classical music n Symphony while SM9111 better for Jazz, pop….. - #16 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 22:51That was 5+ yrs back never can go back, as China tycoons kills the price by swiped them all out from Europe, Except poor condition sick machine ….. Now even double 20k euro you hardly can buy a professionally refurbished n decent tube M10/T9 in Europe ….
- #17 [hahayanyan], 21-07-16 22:56thx for the insight >>>> "SM900 best for classical music n Symphony while SM9111 better for Jazz, pop….."
but nowaday................those china users letting go their collection tooooooooo - #18 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 23:1030ips definitely better than 15ips with less Noise n better, normally, the faster the play/Record speed, the better the reproduction sound quality. Higher tape speeds spread the signal longitudinally over more tape area, reducing the effects of dropouts end up the best possible treble response and lowest noise-floor in theory. The negative end is double length of tape in use with half time, keep changing reel of tape for every 16.5mins for 2500fts long tape. It is a matter of value vs improve % in ear hearing, unless u r very demanding seek for the best by all means, n using supreme $$ audio system, otherwise 15ips(38cms) is good enough for tape music enjoyment… don’t forget many audiophile still happy with cassette tapes music!
- #19 [hahayanyan], 21-07-16 23:16haha thx for sharing........... i do not have a 30ips machine..
i am very happy for 15ips 1/4 and delighed at 7.5 already..haha
may be i find a decent one from china............. or Russia ( same things happens...they are selling........) - #20 [3eyedmonster], 21-07-16 23:50China R2R are not cheap anymore, and many are assembling by different cards n parts from different version, I come across to see different version of audio boards in L /R channel of a recorder, even more the caps n some components are not same spec…. How come they can live together to produce accurate audio calibration?
