Yes, this is supposedly what makes it special. It is made like a guitar box (by a guitar maker) and designed to resonate "musically" In the Japanese market, there is a Kenwood model that looks similar and is built under similar principles. It costs a lot less at about 12k (and is of course not as high end). I heard that one briefly and it sounded quite nice and has a much bolder sound than the size suggests.
