- #2 [arcet], 19-11-13 18:22Lithium Grease 又或者係 lub oil?
- #3 [baxiang], 19-11-13 19:13If your TT is light weight (platter under 3kg), then any generic "3 in One" lubricating oil (sometimes called "sewing machine oil) from local HW store should be fine. If your platter is above 5kg, then you can consider some light weight motor oil (eg. 5W30) from any motor-car supplies or petrol station.
For more discerning users, Krytox has an Teflon based (oil) lubricant that is superior but has to be acquired from overseas.
Grease based lubricant is probably not as suitable.

That's useful for rusted (ball) bearing that has become blocked. Should a TT spindle become rusted, that TT useful life has probably expired. Otherwise a quick wipe of old lubricants would suffice.
Again, the rule of thumb for lubricating TT, lighter oil for lighter loads, vice versa. Regardless, the heaviest of TT platter is still a light load compared to typical ball bearings, so oil based lube should be most appropriate. - #6 [twinggy], 19-11-13 22:21Tks for all the above helpful hints.

- #14 [BenYC], 19-11-16 13:36Actually, best way is to get the oil from the manufacturer.
I am sure you can find the needed on ebay or contact the manufacturer direct.
The freight can sound silly to send a small bottle of oil. Yet, damaging the turntable because of using the wrong oil can be devastating. Afterall it is hard to take out once added....(Oil has different type of viscosity and probably some can mix better but some cannot.)
(I lubricated my turntable before. Sounds silly to spend $200 freight for a much cheaper tiny bit of oils in a small bottle. Yet, it I need not worry or keep thinking about it. )

- #18 [achow], 19-11-18 15:36WD40 is not a lubricant. It is harmful to metal.
Your best choice is to purchase the bearing oil from RC shop. It is easy to use.
Bearing Grease is also a good choice to lubricate the bearing BUT you need to put the grease inside the bearing. Therefore, it is not easy to do.
the purpose to lubricate a bearing is to reduce friction. too much will increase the friction and accumulate dust. - #19 [babydevil], 19-11-19 07:48
Vpi Mat Weisfield recommend the use of 40 weight motor oil as a substitute. I have been using it for quiet a while. Messier than clear bearing oil but it works fine. Just a lube. Many audio products are tougher than it looks..... - #20 [babydevil], 19-11-19 08:000:55 recommend 40 weight motor oil....
