Our Malaysian friend, KY's new toy, a LEAK TL/12.1, which was a released inventory of the BBC!

It came with oily mud.. as the amp's protection or as KY's fringe benefit? :)

Cleaning of the chasis needs planning and preparation!

Same as restoration which needs careful planning and preparation in advance!

So, here we go some preparation.. two buckets, a bottle of organic solvent, a soft brush..

Learning this oily mud to know how to remove it without causing skatch to the chassis.

I guess I should wear face mask to avoid any infection from the 50 years' old oily mud. Yes, I did. Don't worry when you next see me. :)

The component broad is equally dirty.. covered by greasy and sticky mud.

Old resistors from UK made vintage amps are notoriously drifted in value and capacitors are invariably leaky. Don't have a hope unless you are exceptionally lucky as DD are. :)

Wires on the back need to be checked for their insulation and conductivity.

A bath!
