Cat Power, a.k.a. Chan Marshall a new generation of American Folk, experimental and Alternative/Indie singer/song writer.

She cited great influence from the golden age of Folk music like Bob Dylan, CCR, then The Cure and The Smiths., and so quite diverse.

Eva Cassidy, should I need to say more?

I knew her in 1993 from Terry Wogan programme but I didn't take much notice.

I put on Songbird because it was a Christine MaVie song, no introduction needed.

The second one is "Oh, Had I A Golden Thread".

No one single white singer, woman or man, can sing better than Eva when coming to such deep south American gospel and soul music. You hear a powerful voice who is commending the audience to take serious note on her and the meaning of the song.

Also, the organ reminds me the days we would go to a "sing a-long" bar for drinks and dinner then participating Karaoke. Not with a mixer, TV and a sound system but you sang along with an organist who would play your song!!!

It's quite fitting with theThe Alhambra Palace that it has some Moorish (Islamic) touch with the musical arrangement.

As usual her vocal is so poignant with the mood and being the last song.

Very sad indeed as I had many fond memories with Grand Ocean.

Apart from the main blockbuster movies from the West it was also the main venue for the so called "cult movie" from the Hong Kong International Films Festival.

The most notable one was The Poseidon Adventure which had meaning in my life.

When I was in secondary school I had a good classmate who was like my best buddy. Suddenly he was not attending school any more and I thought he must be ill.

Then one day when leaving school I saw him by the school gate. He was waiting for us and I was happy to see him.

It turned out that his family had decided to move to USA and he would be flying in two weeks. We had a long chat and a small group of us decided we should eat in Pizza Hut and checking out who could make the tallest salad bowl.

We also went to see The Poseidon Adventure which was shown in the Grand Ocean Cinema at the time.
