I kind of tried the REW thing you mentioned before. In a very short time, I found my room is just impossible with terrible dips and peaks that normal EQ cannot solve. If I were to flatten everything, I would rather turn it off....

As for left and right, actually both sounds drastically different at my place if I play each speaker separately. This is probably due to my asymmetrical space and I tried to adjust center image balance thru hardware adjustment. Thus, each side actually sounds quite different, even tonally, as the room-sound add to the left and right speaker sound differently due to different positions. Thus, I would imagine REW each speaker to have similar curve will need very drastic adjustment for each side to a point of rather not doing.

However, I do think that having the ability to eq a bit is rewarding if not over doing it. Sometimes, I think whatever fault we hear from our room, probably studio has similar problem. In live concert, the flaws are even more prominent. Perhaps, the way we use the EQ is to just adjust the tone to whatever is pleasing our ears and with that in mind, probably I will just adjust left and right slightly and equally or I would be turning knobs whole day and gets too busy to enjoy the music.

Without money ..no basic tool............that's impossible, at least from you.

With basic tools..fun starts..........logical pathway........one must start from somewhere. When I joined the school photography club I didn't even have a camera.

............what make me happy..............that's very important as no fun, no learning.

The moment..........a picture doesn't start and end "at that moment". It is a continuous process with reflection and repeat.

You need to have hands on the gears to feel right. Any cameras can make a picture. But not all cameras feel right in hand and in heart.

Without money ..no basic tool

With money buy the better tool..fun may end

I hate grow up, but good thing about grow up..I understand what make me happy

Am looking at those trees daily.....wait for the moment with the lighting condition I hope for and without too much wind, then wish I could apply the setting I image.. from white balance colour Kevin...to high key..etc..setting..., and where is the focal point...

I do like to try some sony.. I try some Fuji..great (photos just nice) but lack the solid hand feel I hope for..

HaHa is an engineer by trade so understanding the tools is both born natural and being nurtured by years of hand on experience. As such I have no doubt that he utilises the tools he has chosen. He could have the best Sony A1 or any top of the range cameras if he wants. But getting the most expensive gears and hoping the gears will do all the work for him and that's not the HaHa I understand.

With regards to artistic mind and approach I have seen some excellent works from HaHa, especially the way he plays with light for showing different state of greys to black.

That's not a novice photographer would be able to perform. He is combining his scientific, problem-solving and intrinsic character in applying his photography.

In facts, I do admire these qualities which I never have.

Learning the form of art, or life, is perpetual and I am eagerly awaiting waiting for the day I would hear HaHa declaring “I’ve done it”.

I had took some very lovely photos (I feel so nice..amazed by myself)

But did I really know what had I done , sort of , but not enough haha

There are basic setting i should had applied 3 sec before a shoot ..

I feel so lucky.. somehow I feel I am living the best of 3 worlds .. more than 2 worlds...

I just look at 2 stones..under ths condition ..I imagine what sort of setting u get the rough texture..without being too shape , nothing smoothen... I shall find out tomorrow , as am trimming tree once again , which I has to dcit manually .. otherwise I would or may never understand

Actually, I have a feeling that Haha is just being modest. I cannot imagine a real novice will have some smc lying around. Probably a high hand fishing comments from novice like me for a laugh.

I once heard this saying about the different fortunes from different people from different backgrounds.

I guess Ben would have spent many hours in the darkroom which could help with PS.

We are lucky in the sense that we enjoy both the analogue and digital eras. Now we could combine the two worlds in one computer without the smell of the developer , stop bath and fixer.

If interested in black and white, probably mastering photoshop is most important.

Not sure if you heard of the sunny 16 rule (sunny day 1/100s, iso100, f16) Yet, you come from the film era so probably u know. This will increase success rate and on top of it can always guess and verify exposure. I can guess right most of the time in my prime days. Yet, even if I still can, I will not be able to press or turn knobs as fast as the camera doing it itself.


I guess being able to handle handicraft tools is another story. I actually used to repair violins as a hobby. Can appreciate a pair of good hands much.

that is the fun, how different individual enjoy the different elements of toys, the aspect of it

for me, the opposite ... i feel so much more interesting to shoot manual.....from many aspects /parameters (mostly not color related , apart from saturation..which i need a lot of trial to understand. Why some red is not that red i wish...etc..)

am now fail a lot, so nice fail with no cost, but a lot of learning, understand what not possible by photoshoot , i be delighted someday by software, no rush for it

the sense of fulfillment by cutting a good straight-line by handsaw.....i made item for others..i use good fixture and tools.. i make things for myself..i prepare more material and try different approach,..haha
the sense of fulfillment by getting the contrast right by knowing what / level of high key or low key for that particular lighting conditions

feel so lucky , as i know...i get things done so easy if needed / critical by right tools, apart from it, i enjoy those learning process
