- #146 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:42Lemon green means NEW CONE!!!
- #147 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:43Of course I also had the Altec 755a alnico. This purplish chassis version were said to be the immediate descedent from the axed WE factory
- #148 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:43@@
-
- #149 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:44Also tried the legendary Klangfilm 鬼面罩coaxial. These have the alnico, not the ferrite magnet
- #150 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:46Couldnt stand the box and find the boxless idea too tempting, so tried my first home friendly ob made of acrylic, and a pair of Saba green 8" with its green 4" tweeter
- #151 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:48Later got introduced to these best-kept-secret Saba 10" coax with 10" fullrange, made a foldable baffle inspired by butterfly wings.
- #152 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:48@@
- #153 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:49Sourced some very nice Piano Hinge for fixing the wings
- #154 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:50A project i found on internet by a german using the same 10" coax+ 10" Saba combo but in a mysterious box
- #155 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:51Oh , also had some fun with the Spruce Wood Feis Wong 755a box.
- #156 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:54Then I came to know Lampizator amazing website on diy speakers and I copied his project 25 with one 10" Saba coax + two 10" saba fullrange. Master Limage heard these here and made some very nice comments on them in a PM (how encouraging!!!) . These were sold as a full set to skto 兄!:)
- #157 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:57After the Saba, I felt lost and I built another OB, something bigger, based on the gold Grundig 9", it has phenolic adjustable suspension and you can adjust the magnetic gap between voicecoil former in case of rubbing as a result of freight transit, or gravity force
- #158 [welborne], 14-07-18 15:58I was dubbed the "crocodile kid" , as I lacked soldering skill, as well as that I need to swap things quickly, I opted for croco power
- #159 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:01The very nice Isophon 13cm tweeters were used, I had secretly collected enough pairs so that I could even indulge myself in the luxury of diying a dipole firing set up. These are still the best paper tweeters i have yet to hear, yes I like it more than my $10,000 bastanis horn tweeter. I guess its system matching issues......
- #160 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:03Collected over the years many information about many projects, one of them is... cloning Tekefunken o85.. So I secretly collected the tweeter units hidden inside the Isophon Hexagon tweeter units. But this project never get started.
- #161 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:05Anyone want these? You can combine any two back to back and form a Sphere for 360 degree sound dispersion, something very popular around the 1950's. i even have the circuit diagram how they could match up with the Isophon 12"
- #162 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:07After the acqusition of the Bastanis three years ago, no more diy speaker projects for me any more.... Is it the end??
- #163 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:09Another pair of 8" fieldcoil EAK with stitches. Most are v v v rusty, they were from 1930's
- #164 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:37Most EAK are super rusty, so much so that you dont even want to put your fingers on them, true 戰前文物
- #165 [welborne], 14-07-18 16:39Of course the MOST expensive drivers I have used on open baffle are these East German Broadcast standard Schulz TH315 coaxial. They are fuxxing heavy, huge alnico ass and well measured. These also went to skto later :)
