- #61 [zerozero], 03-06-01 21:52anyone using Mcintosh MR78 or Kenwood L-02? these 2 are my dream machines
- #62 [Can], 03-06-01 23:09thx zeezee. the DA-F20 is a very good tuner. It is now enjoy by another nice guy also.
zerozero,
- #64 [zeezee], 03-06-01 23:34Hi Can,
Long time no see! How are you? I have been busy since weeks ago.
I wish the DA-F20 is as good as before as from the day it has gracefully retired from my home.
Keep in touch! Cheers. - #65 [Can], 03-06-01 23:39zeezee,
how are you?
the tuner need to be used. i.e. previously i used it every day. so it operated nicely.
- #67 [sm], 03-06-05 22:16I've seen a Kenwood L-02 in Akihabalah last week.
too bad that one doesn't fit hk - #68 [新丁仔], 03-06-05 22:26stephen兄,
- #73 [spider], 03-06-05 22:59
- #74 [sm], 03-06-05 22:59I'm using Sansui 999 now, it really outperform another Sony RDS tuner. both in terms of sound quality and sensitivity. I dunno how good are 膽收音機. They are too slow and warm for me
Agreed with you. :> - #79 [ac388], 03-06-06 11:25All hihand, please advise which FM antennna, besides the public one, do you guys use once you have such a nice tuners.
- #80 [Kler], 03-06-06 14:31That's very important. I remember that, one of my friend who had compared my TAG Mclaren T20 (I lent him while on trip) and an Denon TU-1500 (from another friend) in his home.
The Denon (HKD$2xxx) costs 1/6 of the TAG Mclaren (HKD$1xxxxx), and, his experience were of little difference, he found the TAG Mclaren T20 only slightly quieter and smoother, and then he bought a new Denon home.
While he returned my Tuner (it's a bit heavy) and took a listen, he found there were liveness & vividness that unheard of and thought of my coster Hi-Fi system, it's not actually. Then, he went home and took his Denon TU-1500 (very light weight) to my home at night (Sunday), I hook them up with same Interconnect and doing A-B comparison (yes, need to switch antenna manually) - mostly RTHK-4 & RTHK"2" live music.
Honestly, the Denon is O.K., but, it only take him a few seconds for my friend to discover, the Mclaren T20 is much more detailed, more coherence, more lively, and more 3D, background is darker with layering, voices are more intimate & more analogue..... . Switch back to Denon TU-1500, it's sound field is narrower & more 2D, voices more sallower & less lively.
The major point here is, he use public antenna at home to compare both Tuners, the quality of the signal is bad (interference), higher quality Tuner can sound even worst (higher resolution) than those cheaper one. And, in my home, I use Magnum DynaLab ST-2, so, the better the Tuner, the better the sound. For Hi-Fi, every detail is important. If he Magnum DynaLab MD-108 has preset functions (full manual control including tuning!), I would have upgraded.
