"Air on the G String", also known as "Air for G String" and "Celebrated Air", is August Wilhelmj's 1871 arrangement of the second movement of Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major, BWV 1068. The arrangement differs from the original in that it is transposed down into C major so the part of the first violins can be played entirely on the violin's lowest string (the G string, hence the name), which gave the piece its popular title.

Pavane pour une infante défunte (Pavane for a Dead Princess) is a work for solo piano by Maurice Ravel, written in 1899 while the French composer was studying at the Conservatoire de Paris under Gabriel Fauré. Ravel published an orchestral version in 1910 using two flutes, an oboe, two clarinets (in B♭), two bassoons, two horns, harp, and strings. The Pavane lasts between six and seven minutes and is considered a masterpiece.

The Symphony No. 9 in D minor, Op. 125, is a choral symphony, the final complete symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, composed between 1822 and 1824. It was first performed in Vienna on 7 May 1824. The symphony is regarded by many critics and musicologists as a masterpiece of Western classical music and one of the supreme achievements in the history of music. One of the best-known works in common practice music, it stands as one of the most frequently performed symphonies in the world.

The Ninth was the first example of a major composer scoring vocal parts in a symphony. The final (4th) movement of the symphony, commonly known as the Ode to Joy, features four vocal soloists and a chorus in the parallel key of D major. The text was adapted from the "An die Freude (Ode to Joy)", a poem written by Friedrich Schiller in 1785 and revised in 1803, with additional text written by Beethoven. In the 20th century, an instrumental arrangement of the chorus was adopted by the Council of Europe, and later the European Union, as the Anthem of Europe.

In 2001, Beethoven's original, hand-written manuscript of the score, held by the Berlin State Library, was added by UNESCO to its Memory of the World International Register, becoming the first musical score so designated.

中國潮汕文化題材的《給阿嬤的情書》，因為星加坡《聯合早報》將之看作是對海外華人的統戰，而引爆星中兩國輿論戰火。而電影已經在星加坡和馬來西亞上映，場場爆滿，觀眾淚流不止，影院還要不斷申請加場。在星加坡，潮汕話版本的訂票系統，因為購買人數太多而癱瘓。

《給阿嬤的情書》展現了動蕩的近代中國，華南小人物在身不由己的生活中展現的信義、情義與忠義。正如歌詞「心內無譜彈琵琶，月下問花花未應」，原創主題曲《月下煮茶》以鋼琴伴奏，陳佳以潮汕話女聲獨唱，道盡了難以抗拒的悲歡離合。

The Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major, Op. 47, by Ludwig van Beethoven, is an 1803 sonata for piano and violin notable for its technical difficulty, unusual length, and emotional scope. It is commonly known as the Kreutzer Sonata (German: Kreutzer-Sonate) after the violinist Rodolphe Kreutzer, to whom it was ultimately dedicated, but who thoroughly disliked the piece and refused to play it.

Copland's fanfare was composed in 1942 for the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra -- one of 18 fanfares written to promote patriotic response at America's entry into the second World War, and the only one still performed regularly.

Inspired by a famous speech by U.S. Vice President Henry Wallace, Copland wanted to honor ordinary citizens who were contributing to the war effort and carrying the burdens of society. Copland recalled“I sort of remember how I got the idea of writing Fanfare for the Common Man—it was the common man, after all, who was doing all the dirty work in the war and the army. He deserved a fanfare.”
