any problem pm please ! -
- #24 [dwan], 09-06-08 10:22Siuwing,
I think you could try Accoustic Revive resonse generator, cost a little more than 2K, much better sonic results could be obtained - #25 [tonyhongmk2], 09-06-08 10:44siuwing

I experienced extra highs for a long time.
Methods used included (in order):
1) Change to a poweramp with high power (250W at 8ohms) - a beefier presentation so highs are less sharp
2) Change speaker stands - improved a bit for the correct height
3) Speaker positioning - improved a bit on the high problems but most on imaging
3) Clean all contacts area THOROUGHLY (cable terminals, cables, speaker terminals) - the result is dramatic since I didn't know some terminals and cable ends are very dirty
4) Further stuffing the listening area (140 sq ft app.) with bookcases at the CORRECT positions
5) Add rugs at the floor STRATEGICALLY (in between the speakers and extra rugs at the first reflection points on the floor) - made sounds less easily arrived at the ears too early
6) Add curtains at the back of the speakers (and behind the listener's positions since it's close to a panels of windows) - smoother presentation and quieter backgrounds.
The above was done in order. In retrospect, I would do 3,4,5, 6 first since they involve much less costs and the changes are beneficial to all small speakers (more dispersed in terms of high frequencies). I think all methods may bring some changes (or improvements) but the room acoustics would certaily bring surprising improvements. I refused to believe this in the past but now I probably design the room first if I got a new room and new hifi set. :) - #38 [nwclmk], 09-06-08 12:00To my experience, 1 and 6 are most useful.
- #40 [zbigniew821], 09-06-08 12:06nwclmk hing, I agree. We have different rooms and gears. My list of options actually is not even exhaustive. I am sure some may found changing the gear support may improve the high a bit - it's quite system dependent. If the amp is too weak, changing amp is a prerequiste. At the same time, if the room is untreated or empty (which we see in many 'hifi pics'), the chance is chaning room acoustics should help a lot. It really depends on everyone's situation.
