浄係 post76 已經最少有兩個港人做 LPS, 一個叫 Edison(無買過),另一個訂造過一個六仟幾蚊的 LPS 俾兩部 NAS.

Talking about the power supply upgrade for the Mani I found a few on eBay. There is one made by Swagman Lab in Hong Kong and some from China.
The one from Swagman Lab does say Linear PSU, no mention from those made in China.
After showing the videos the Mani with Denon and Linn MC carts I put up two more videos using a cheap Ortofon 2M Red. To me the strength from Mani is the MM output. It just plays very well, much better than my Trichord Dino.

Nice to know that as I am using 2M Red. - #48 [BenYC], 19-11-11 00:28Wow... First off, your phone recording quality is amazing. Out of curiosity, I tried to record my system, and it turned out very "distant" with lots of hisses. Either you have amazing phone or your system/skill is amazing. There is so much I can learn from you.
I am glad you like the mani. Now, I am very impressed too. I like schitt product in general but I never really thought about getting their phono amp.
These days, I am looking for an entry level turntable as I am getting more and more skeptical re hifi vs user in general. I often hear wonderful music from modestly priced systems but terrible music from skyhigh price tag ones. I was thinking if it is necessary to be that anal re vinyl and if the climbing of the price ladder is justifiable. In a way, you solved my mystery. It is the guy that matters.
I also have a Denon but put aside long time (103R). I gave it up because I found the tracking terrible on the last track. I should dig it out again to try. Probably it was me.
Hifi is a funny thing. No impression is certain and whatever I believe, it is always fun to challenge it.
Disclaimer - I am not a vinyl guy. I used to hook one up at home but gave it up. Once in a while, I would have stupid ideas. Fortunately, or maybe not , I am a hoarder too so I sometimes are able to find things around to play with.
Does your audiolab has phono? One of the odd theory I have is that many of the older gears have outstanding MM. You tried that yet?
Again, so much I can learn from you.

I think that is not phone recording. There is a mic recorder on a stand in the video. - #50 [addyg], 19-11-11 01:05#48
I may help answer some of the questions.
The Audiolab 8000a is quite new comparing to my Sansui amplifier (the company went down in year 2000).
My Sansui amplifier as many of 1980-1997 have builtin phono board. It is quite good on par to usd100 phono amp.
But for Schiit Mani I think it is a upgrade from builtin phono.
Most people of Accuphase Luxman amp use their own builtin phono card instead of buying separate phono amp. - #51 [addyg], 19-11-11 01:12I am using a 500hkd old phono amp Teac because of my builtin phono card burned out. The cheap Teac is still good.
The basic of phono amp is drive 5mA of current to 150mA output. But the current is so tiny there is really not much circuit to play around. Unlike a real speaker amp which drives 150mA to 150W output that is huge current amplification.

Ben,
It is the wonder of internet that we can share and learn though we are thousand miles apart(England-HK).
One thing I make clear that I am no expect at anything. I use a Samsung 8c mobile phone though sometimes I will use a Tascam DR-07II Digital Recorder for a proper recording, like the last two videos.
As in my previous exchanges with you I just have very basic and mostly "old" relics. I do like my music and I will adjust all the equipment to make sure I have my music played right, especially I am deaf as you know.
Vinyl has never left me from the very first day I had one( I think it's a single of Apache by the Shadow) given to me by my older sister when she used it for partying in the 60's.
My Audiolab does have MM/MC input and yes I will try out later.
Apache by The Venture(one of my old videos)

Oh yes, I also have a Sansui receiver and a Teac Phono amp(could be the same from us!!).
I once learnt that(more likely hearsay) E.A.R.(Tim de Paravacini) used to collect some old Sansui parts to create his Phono SUT and Phono Amps.
I must say how dare we compare the cheap Schitt Mani(US$120??) to those Accuphase and Luxman!!!
Only kidding, ha, ha. I must say I never own those as they are quite out of my reach.

Internet is indeed a wonderful and amazing platform. Thru the years, I also met a lot of friends thru it. Many of them have become personal friends and I got the chance to listen to tons of systems. Back in my Hifi days, I would be out 5 days a week, going to different homes to listen to all kinds of set up and afterwards, chats and hangout and dinner. Good old days. I called it a Hifi crash course.
As for your recordings, I am still amazed. Great job indeed. I am a dated guy and never really post on youtube. I guess I should start looking into it as this apparently can be more personal and open up more doors to meet more friends from around the world.
By the way, you are just being modest. Gears you have are wonderful. Old or not is indeed relative as my main system is much older and more like trash, both in appearance and price tags.
What's really interesting all thru the years of hifi search is that I found out I have cheapskate taste, often being impressed by modestly priced item and seldom do I like expensive ones. I just dislike the in your face type or very house sound like gears which are usually the ones that demand the sky high prices. I did think about all this deeply. Think I am haunted by my concert going back in the days. Floating in the air type hifi illusion and extreme details just shouted out fake to me even if they are tonally balanced. Yet, I am am cheap and have stone ears, what do I know. (I used have a thread elsewhere that call myself semi-deaf and loser. So much truth about this title.)
I am into youtube and spotify these days. Both provide me sources of new music that I never dream about. Yes, vinyl does sound better but the content is limiting. I retired my vinyl to second home and just leave it there thou connected. Maybe I play it 1-2 hours a month just to get it turning to avoid breaking down.
By the way, Sansui is a good brand. I still have a tuner which I like most (at least it beat my magnum by a mile). This is the good old Japanese day product. I don't think I can say the same for current accuphase or luxman. What do I know, I am semi-deaf.
In my days of vinyl search, I concluded pres of the 80s all have awesome built-in phono. Thus, I only used very few stand alone phono. Actually my first phono was a Trichord too.
Anyway, I don't consider myself an audiophile. I am just an aged man with nothing better to do and like to do experiment once in a while to prove myself wrong....

Nice you have keep all the LP these years. I threw away my LP records 20 years ago and now returned to this hobby.
