- #41 [JL], 04-06-12 22:25Sure! It is quite extraordinary to see people using Luxman and Tannoy at the same time. Perhaps we should get together some time in the future to see how these vintage items work together.

someone offered me red 10" with 3LS cabinet for 8.5k ar.... what do u compare the 12" gold with the red 10 ar?
thanks - #43 [JL], 04-06-13 22:11I am not a Tannoy expert. To my knowledge, 10" Tannoy speakers are less sought after. The 15" and 12" ones are much more popular. Reds and Golds are pretty close in performance. Black and Silver are of course older, more expensive and praised more by Tannoy lovers.
I can hardly comment on the offer you mentioned because I have seen the pair, nor auditioned them.
However, I'd like to raise one point. How big is your listening area? Do big speakers suit you? In terms of size, there could be not big differences between 10" and 12" Tannoy cabinets unless the latter are of corner style.

- #44 [william], 04-06-13 22:22Hi
Jl
thanks for email. My listening area is 9" x 22", I use the 9: for my listening area. Also, do u have fisher 400cx2? - #45 [JL], 04-06-13 22:27I only have a Fisher 400C. However, I have some other very nice preamps such as Luxman CL35 Mk III, H H Scott 122 and Lafayette KT600A.
Tannoy speakers are very user friendly. Most amps will work well with them. - #46 [william], 04-06-13 22:29JL

Currently, I'm using Sony CDP-555esd...
can't compare with my ex LHH-1000.....
I shouldn't sell it........
Please guide me for any good buy...
someone selling x-5000 in 2nd hand place, not sure want to get it or send my CDP to get a big upgrade modification...
Any idea JL ? - #49 [JL], 04-06-14 09:58Sony X5000 is the big brother of X3000. I had auditioned the former before I bought the latter. In my opinion, their performance is pretty close but the latter is much cheaper. In my case, I would only use the Sony CDP as a transport in view of my existing nice DACs. This was the main reason why I bought the latter.
There are some other merits of the two Sony CDPs. They look beautiful. This is a characteristic of Sony gear. Second, you can use a mat and change a better center weight because the CDP is of top opening design -- you can have two more tweaks to play with.
Of course, if you want to buy a used CDP, I would strongly recommend the Marantz CD10 I am using. You may read the users' comments about it at audioreview.com. It is far superior to those modern CDPs such as Marantz 17 or 63. It is not difficult to get one on the German eBay. I did it several years ago.
Just my two cents
JL - #50 [Click], 04-06-14 12:23The Tannoy 10 inches drivers are also hot items because Manley has discontinued their famous ML 10 close field monitors, which uses Tannoy 10" drivers. However, Manley still made ML10 for those people who come with their own Tannoy 10" drivers. Hence............
- #51 [sm], 04-06-14 16:27this driver look excact the same as my Sterling's driver
- #52 [sm], 04-06-14 16:28look like it has double rubber edge...
- #53 [kklam1974], 04-07-24 12:32Hi all,
I am looking for a Tannoy speaker and my prime target is Sensys DC2, however, some of my friend told me the Eyris is much better (and much expensive as well), then I found that there are a series of Eyris DC. Now, I don't know which one to but la. Can anyone give me some advise? As I am going to have the Denon 3805 amp, is it ok to push both sensys DC2 or Eyris DC3? - #54 [ericsiu], 04-07-24 23:19
- #55 [ericsiu], 04-07-24 23:21i asked my wife's comment on my Tannoy.

I am user of Eyris DC 1.
have you connected th ground terminal of the your tannoy ? this termainal is really in improving the quality of sound. And, try to add the Supertweeter? it also real helpful in sound quality. Tannoy is very musical and never let you down.
BTW, my amp is NAD S300
I am listening Brahms piano Concerto No. 1 played by Arthur Rubinsterin.
Happy listening.
