For your new born baby good sake, you need SHL5 even more. A good speaker can calm baby down and stimulate their intuition and learning.
Just like music, will you let your baby hear rubbish pop music or Mozart? - #43 [frankie2612], 06-08-23 15:28Hi bigbird,
I agree with M40, SHL-5 is worth for the money.
Also, you don't need to spend sky price for the AMP to match that.Still can play wonderful sound for you family. -
- #44 [avrookie], 06-08-23 15:41Dear bros, where can I audition Harbeth speakers at a nice environment besides the HK Record. Don't wanna go to MK to deal with the difficult sales there!
Thks! - #45 [frankie2612], 06-08-23 16:54push
- #46 [M40], 06-08-23 17:11Hi frankie2612, is it your home? Have you tried to put on the grille? I much prefer to hear my M40 with grille on.
- #47 [frankie2612], 06-08-23 17:20Yes, here is my home. I already ask for the Sound Anchors stands. I am thinking to get one in 14" but they don't have stock now.
- #48 [frankie2612], 06-08-23 17:24Hi M40 Hing,
My Wadia also has got. I am looking for the next CDP to match my system. Any suggestion? I have a goldmund DA using right now. - #49 [M40], 06-08-23 17:24I meant Harbeth is designed with grille (the cloth) put on.
- #50 [M40], 06-08-23 17:31For source, I like MBL and ARC. Or pro stuffs like EMM, dCS, Weiss, Lavry etc
- #51 [frankie2612], 06-08-23 17:31I will take some time to try it on.
Can you tell me what's the different between on and off? - #52 [M40], 06-08-23 17:33With grille on, mid/high/low seems more integrated. And most important, soundstage is bigger!
- #53 [M40], 06-08-23 17:37Look at grille and groove for grille to fit on. There are some tricks to control edge diffraction....Anyway, you better hear yourself.
- #54 [frankie2612], 06-08-23 17:41Yes,sure. Thank for your sharing.
I will take a serious listening. - #55 [ken1967], 06-08-23 18:33frankie hing,
Your stand have a good colour match wor.
M40 hing,
The cons I refer to is: in some music it can have more putch and I find the sound stage can be deeper. Also some music can be bloomy. But the owner just have it for a week so can be improved. But no speaker is perfect and consider the price... a good 8.5/10. Of course if I have a $50k budget then there are something very good also. Really like to see your stand match with M40 in your home. OK for coming Sat?
Ken1967 - #56 [M40], 06-08-23 19:37Hi Ken1967,
Soundstage can be improved by more suitable stand, putting grille on, four-points (not three) spk-stand interface, etc....
If spk is new, it could sound bloomy too. cos the rubber surround is still stiff and slow. More run-in will cure the problem.
I'm not saying SHL5 is perfect speaker, just want to say many so called cons may due to sub optimal setup.
p.s. Sorry that my full year Sat was occupied starting from last week. So need to find a better time. Sun will be better. - #57 [ken1967], 06-08-23 19:47M40 hing,
Let me call you later on this week. Thanks - #58 [frankie2612], 06-08-25 13:03Hi Ken & Eric,
