I'm afraid it doesn't help much. I guess "trafo" is transformer. But what is "Elektroluminiszenzanzeige"? Even we know its meaning, the whole statement is still not clear... :( - #23 [DenonFanNo2], 06-09-14 17:45mikelee,
It's better than nothing but helps us to distinguish whether the player is in good condition or not. (The actual case may not be as described before the player arrives...) -
- #24 [waterman], 06-09-14 17:50I know a common problem of B226 – it is the high-voltage transformer for display panel, in the front of left side PCB, about 1.5cm x 1.5cm x 1.5cm. However I'm not quite sure it is the same problem as above.
- #25 [n19137], 06-09-14 18:07Hi
My Studer A730. - #26 [mikelee], 06-09-14 18:12DenonFanNo2,
Maybe I'm misleading... Anyway, it's a general comment from a German Revox specialist on B 226-S. I'm not sure if the common problem applies to B 226 too.
waterman,
Thanks a lot for your info! I bet it's the same problem as mentioned by that Revox specialist. But are you sure the problem happens to both B 226 and B 226-S (B 226 MkII)? - #27 [waterman], 06-09-14 18:14I see this problem in B226, B226 Signature, B226S.
- #28 [mikelee], 06-09-14 18:19n19137,
Welcome! What are the labels on your A730?
The look and sound of A730 really makes people drooling: - #29 [mikelee], 06-09-14 18:22waterman,
I see. Is B 226 Signature the same as B 226-S? I know there are different versions of B 226. I'm curious how many versions have been manufactured and what their differences are. - #30 [waterman], 06-09-14 18:29mike,
As I know, there are B226, B226E, B226S, and B226 Signature, but I'm not sure it is exhausted.
Inside almost the same. The different are power transformer, DAC chip (w/ or w/o crown). - #31 [mikelee], 06-09-14 18:42waterman,
It seems that you're the equivalent of that German Revox expert! Could you tell us more about the common problem of B 226? - #32 [ARU-180], 06-09-14 18:44I own a B226 CD player.
And I want the original remote. - #33 [mikelee], 06-09-14 18:59ARU-180,
You're surely not the only one looking for original Revox remote control units. They come as optional accessories... :P - #34 [jcml], 06-09-14 20:39The line amp of Studer A727 is 1.769.277.00
and the line amp of A730 is 1.769.277.82 or 1.769.277.83 - #35 [waterman], 06-09-14 22:37Mike,
Don't laught at me. I have a far far to be an export.
一發零,
Revox remote can be ordered from German but cost a lot. However you can buy a decent learning remote and I can help you to finish the rest of steps. - #36 [mikelee], 06-09-15 04:00According to Revox Germany, there are 5 versions of B 226 (The remarks in brackets are not from them but the result of my extensive online reseach):
1. B 226 MK I (Release year: 1986. Design based on Philips CD101. TDA1541.)
2. B 226 Signature (Release year: 1988. All case in black finish. TDA1541A)
3. B 226 MK II (same as B 226-S?)
4. B 226-S (Release year: 1990. CDM1 MkII. TDA1541A S1 Silver Crown)
5. B 226-E (Release year: 1992. SAA7220P/B. Selected TDA1541A S1. EL display)
The internal components not only varies in different versions but also in the same version! As a result, it's very hard to distinguish among the different versions. The above remarks may be wrong. Please correct me for our better reference.
Besides the above different B 226's, I've also read about B 226-SG. It's simply a B 226 with gold feet... :P
B 226-E: - #37 [mikelee], 06-09-15 04:05waterman,
How can we teach a learning remote control unit to control Revox B 226?
Probably the only CD-only remote control, B208 Signature: - #38 [mikelee], 06-09-15 04:40Revised list of B 226:
1. B 226 MK I (Release year: 1986. Design based on Philips CD101. TDA1541.)
2. B 226 Signature (Release year: 1988. The whole case in black finish. TDA1541A.)
3. B 226-SG (Release year: 1989. B 226 Signature with gold feet.)
4. B 226 MK II (= B 226-SG?)
5. B 226-S (Release year: 1990. CDM1 MkII. TDA1541A S1 Silver Crown.)
6. B 226-E (Release year: 1992. SAA7220P/B. Selected TDA1541A S1. EL display.) - #39 [waterman], 06-09-15 12:03Mike,
Some combo remotes (CDP, Radio, Amp...) could be available from Revox. They can control Revox CDP as well. - #40 [jcml], 06-09-15 13:44Revox 226-S chipset.

This CD Player of the superlative has unfortunately technical weakness, either the Elektroluminiszenzanzeige or the trafo that the high voltage for energy-shows supplies very often precipitates with older devices.
