電影由里安納度·狄卡比奧及辛潘等主演。故事講述Pat(迪卡比奧)同佢嘅黑人女伴Perfidia係一個激進組織French 75嘅成員。佢哋組織因為一次襲擊行動跟辛潘主演嘅軍官Lockjaw（辛潘）產生咗私怨，後來Perfidia失手落網被Lockjaw 要挾發生關係，事後仲懷有咗佢嘅骨肉。但後來野性不羈嘅Perfidia借機逃遁，回到咗Pat身邊。但係當女嬰出生後，兩人又因為思想衝突導致女方決定遺下女嬰，自己離去繼續參與政治活動。本來隨着時間流逝，女嬰已變成一位少女Willa，兩父女生活就像常人一般，不過後來喺機緣巧合下，Lockjaw發覺咗呢位私生女兒嘅存在。但矛盾嘅係由於佢朝思暮想希望加入一個極右派嘅deep state組織Christmas Adventurers Club，而組織中人全部係白人至上理論嘅支持者，呢個時候嘅佢就要作出一個取捨啦⋯
電影改編自一部黑色喜劇小說，以寫實手法拍攝，絕對唔似一般商業掛帥嘅動作片，而且片長差不多三小時，如果抱住睇純粹官能刺激嘅動作片心態觀看必定大失所望。至於影評方面亦係各走極端，毁譽參半。可能因為咁嘅原因，所以電影票房不太理想。作為買飛入場睇過嘅觀眾，小弟覺得電影中音效出色，部份場面頗有震撼力，而且劇情唔算老套值得一看。
負責替電影配樂嘅係Radiohead樂隊主結他手，嚟自英國嘅Jonny Greenwood。呢位仁兄近年替唔少電影，例如《Phantom Thread /霓裳魅影》、《 Spencer / 史賓沙》及《There Will Be Blood / 黑金風雲》等創作配樂。基本上佢參與配樂工作嘅電影都係屬於一啲題材比較另類嘅電影，而佢喺配樂方面主要用acoustic結他、加上其他弘樂同鋼琴做主要演奏樂器。作品大多數都係以疏落嘅音符去描寫靜態場面，偶爾遇上緊張嘅動作場面就反之而行，以密集嘅音符同更強嘅節奏感，有時更會加入管樂器同敲擊樂器呢兩種比較少用嘅樂器類別，去配合畫面，音樂則時常都會以不和弦調子進行，呢齣電影嘅配樂就有晒以上呢啲特點。
電影原聲雙黑膠唱片集入邊有十八首配樂選段。配樂十分配合電影嘅畫面同剪接，時常予人一種既不安又幽怨嘅感覺。音效方面，呢套OST 2LP 表現上乘，有高又有低，樂器嘅聲音亦有質感但由於缺少爆棚樂段，所以聽者唔會有大呼過癮嘅機會。捷克壓制嘅黑膠碟碟片平直，底噪唔高。包裝嚟講就用咗雙封套設計，印刷同紙質都有水準。

Not familiar with the film or soundtrack but I'm a huge fan of Joanna Pettet!
She has that certain beauty and elegance which is very distinctive. Blake Lively could pass as her twin sister.

電影劇本根據1963年英國發生嘅一宗郵政列車刧案改編而成。影片講述一名慣匪新婚後打算重操故業，做一單「大買賣」，為此佢四出招兵買馬，其中仲包括刧獄救出一名對紙幣有特殊認識嘅監犯。整個械劫行動經過周密計劃，成事後震驚社會成為當時英國史上失款最多之械劫案（事實上亦如此）。雖然一名蘇格蘭場警探對一名疑犯嘅身份心中有數，但係苦無證據。此時，其中一名於案發後曾經幫助劫匪改裝汽車嘅車房老闆因為企圖離境就成為咗破案嘅轉捩點⋯
電影成績不過不失，但其中一幕飛車場面就成為咗日後史提夫麥昆電影《Bullitt /渾身是膽》嘅藍本，更加成為咗同類場面嘅經典。另外電影中嘅配樂亦算得上係比較出色嘅一環，而負責創作電影音樂嘅係已故蘇格蘭音樂家Johnny Keating。此君對音樂教育有唔少貢獻，於愛丁堡創立咗一所音樂學校，並且著有多本音樂理論書籍。至於呢齣電影嘅配樂風格就類似眾多60年代後期至70年代警匪片般，帶有爵士樂風格。原聲大碟中部份配樂仲被多次挪用到70年代香港製作電視劇中。電影原聲大碟入邊十首音樂除卻第一首為電影歌曲《Born to Lose》外，其餘皆為配樂選段。但呢首由Jackie Lee 演唱嘅歌曲卻從未有喺電影中出現。
英版OST LP由Decca公司發行，雖然係單聲道製作，但無論聲音分隔度同動態都有優良表現，無怪乎在當日好多時都會被用在音響器材推廣活動中。原聲大碟黑膠碟片平直，底噪唔高而包裝就只係背後印上咗解說文字嘅普通單封套一個。

Watched the film when it was rereleased in the early 80’s. Though I quite enjoyed it , I was troubled by the use of M47s disguising as German tiger tanks in the movie, this really let me down as a modeler.

Just finished watching the last ever episode of "Stranger Things" and what a emotional roller coaster.
The last warcraft game reminds me so much of the Frodo telling at the end of the Third LOTR. It was so sentimental and sad............and hope.
Brilliant sending off and I am glad there are so many my beloved songs up there.

At the time, I watched Phantasm at the Paris Theatre in San Po Kong with my cousin brother.
I enjoyed the movie, especially the last scene when tall man breaks the mirror and grabs the boooy from behind .
I also have the CD & LP of the OST in my collection. It has been lauded by Hifi enthusiasts since it’s release not without reasons, the sound quality is outstanding and the tune of the main theme is both eerie and majestic at the same time. It’s a shame that the film’s sequels can’t hold a candle to it.
