- #3751 [twinggy], 26-10-08 11:11In my case, I filter the condensation water with Brita cartridge before pouring into the machine which has a piece of spongy material built into it to trap any unwanted particles. Been using this as backup for years and the results have been satisfactory, so far no whatsoever harmful effects being noticed.
Hope this helps. ^^ - #3750 [fotheringay], 26-10-07 20:07using condensation water from the dryer......
I don't have a tumble dryer but the idea is interesting. Wouldn't the water be contaminated with chemicals and particles?
I am experimenting with using water filter(< 0.2 micron) to tap water as I think it may just do the job. -
- #3749 [Twinggy], 26-10-03 13:24fotheringay bro,
I visited Bath , Gloucester, Swansea and Bristol during my stay in Cardiff , trying to have some firsthand look at properties and environment etc in the various locations. It was a really busy trip , thanks to GWR and other trainline operators which constantly came up with some unexpected ( now expected ) schedule changes for reasons of all sorts. On top of this we had to do quite some maintenance job on our own premises and to say the least, exhausting to people of my age.
Notwithstanding all of this my wife and I enjoyed our stay , the food in the various eateries we happened to dine in were often sumptuous. My wife bought some Barbour pieces and ceramic odds and ends while I dug into crates of records and ended up bringing home about thirty of them.
As for saving up on filtered water may I suggest using condensation water from the dryer ? I used this trick whenever I run out of distilled water. ^^ - #3748 [fotheringay], 26-10-03 00:50
Twinggy bro,
Did you have a good time in the UK?
From your talking about cleaning records you really are serious in taking care with your records.
Finally I got myself a DIY Ultrasound Record Cleaning machine, I am such a cheapo!!!
Since this is about OST, a soundtrack from their movie "The Song Remains The Same".

- #3737 [twinggy], 26-09-04 18:35Bekim Fehmiu from Yugoslavia , lead actor of the film. ^^

The film spared no expense in its production. ^^ - #3735 [twinggy], 26-09-04 18:20
Search for Amparo. ^^ - #3734 [twinggy], 26-09-04 18:17The film was shown in Hong Kong six years after its premiere in the States. ^^

So far I am impressed with the results from my DIY Ultrasound Records Cleaning machine.
I would say it has cleared up more than 90% of those stubborn ticking noises with my old records. With regards to the scratches and cut there is nothing the machine can do it any better because the damage is there.
What I mostly feel happy is that neither does it destroy the record, nor diminishing the high frequency as many suggested in the past. I don't know if some machines do but certainly not with this 180W 40Khz power setting.
Another fact I really find it interesting is that not only does it clear the noise but also seemingly give out more refined details.
It's not abundant but very subtle and smooth and somehow you know is there.
I am now starting to clean up my beloved collections. I may have cleaned up about 50 records but it's going to be a lonnnnng way to go.
Let's begin with Joan Baez collection and it's only 92 copies.
And there are more than 20,000 to go!!!!!
This is now how I recycle the cleaning fluid.
