The name of EV,Electro voice were one of the best speaker manufactuer a half of century ago
EV were the first manufactuer speaker design in 4 way horn system
It's a flagship from Electro voice Name as "Patrician"
When Altec and JBL stand in front of it,they turn to be small potatoe.

My new EV seems too big for me!!
However, it produces a decent performance and better than my exisitng Yamaha NS-1000.

Thank you for the info.I don't have experience with N/DYM-1.I have a pair of EV 848 (Phenolic diaphragm)and T35.I like the 8484 very much.It has a very open and lively sound without hateful peak.It is so concert hall like feeling.Music is everywhere.
After I read the spec of N/DYM-1 ,I found that the diaphragm is make of titanium.May be the so called sweet and smooth sound is the result of this material.
I don't like titanium diaphragm. It's more smooth and less peak but I think it is somehow week in body, impact and flat in high frequency. The cymbals never sound right in one of my titanium drivers.
I don't know if the EV N/DYM-1 have this problems or not.I hope not.I'm still avoid any titanium driver unless I hear a good one.
Aluminium diaphragm still the best for my ears. - #5006 [penndan], 09-01-25 01:01
TAD 4001 sounds good to me,my concern is can it go as low as 500HZ?
-------------
I'm 100% sure the 4001 can cross at 500Hzor or even 300Hz but you need to find a horn to work with it.
---------------------
Based on passive crossover project,I agree two way crosspoint units sounds natural on mid horn rolls up instead of high cut filter. But the problem is without the tweeters on high section is like cornflakes without the milk, too dry and airless.
-----------------------
I didn't say that you should not add a tweeter but adding it right is not easy.
The tweeters can affect the mid body or even the bass quality.
My experience is so many audiophiles trend to add too much high frequency in their system. - #5007 [chrisham], 09-01-25 10:29Good morning

Good Morning.
You are right, really from HIFI DO.
So sorry!! I am a new hand on horn speakers.
However, i would say it is very detailed and outstanding from the N/DYM-1 driver especially the female vocal. I can't believe so cheap price can produce such great performance.
I am learning from you and i have to share with you whilst i tried my favorite CDs and LPs.
Please wait for a while!!
I can only complain the rusting screws of the wooden cabinets. I must to replace them after CNY.
Chrisham
Thanks a lot - #5013 [孟波], 09-01-25 11:40The price is very good.
Indeed the list price of N/DYM-1 driver was over 460,000 yen/pair. - #5014 [chrisham], 09-01-25 11:44Dear tubeliyer C Hing

EV N/dym-1 is the first driver use neodymium alloy magnet of EV, the former model was DH-1A.
Although few people talking about EV but EV replaced with many Altec and JBL unit in professional field. DH-1A was the highest magnetic flux density (21000 gauss)driver of world and N/DYM-1 has 22500 gauss and just weight 3.3kg, JBL 2440 has 20500 gauss.
DH-1A and N/DYM-1 can be used as two ways system with 500Hz/12dB crossover but 2440 must be used as 3 way due to roll off of high.
I collect 3 or 4 pair of each model, compaare of 2440, DH-1A is sweeter and smoother.
