I did not deal with the shop at where I bought my JBL 4338. I contacted JBL(Today's Audio Limited) in Hong Kong directly. Check the link, http://www.locale.jbl.com/en_HK/. Are you sure your friend's pair of speakers is hong good? Why did your friend contact TLAV? And TLAV sent the unit to your friend! I cannot find TLAV in JBL's website. It sounds like your friend bought water good! It may be the reason why your friend sufferred.

Because they said the warrent card already mentioned not include speaker unit, crossover, case.......

JBL delivered a pair of 4338 to me, and I found quality issue on one unit. It did not suggest to repair it at my home. Instead, it immediately air-shipped another pair of 4338 to me. The service was excellent.
