我個仔之前有拉小提琴,而我亦都有去聽現場演奏,如果聽小提琴,我會用木皮LS3/5A同Pure Malt。

想pure malt有貴氣,先換高音粒Cap再講,包你更愛上Pure malt :-)

反而用全音域去聽小提琴像真度最高，如Lowther or Altec 755A/C等。

貴氣高頻，好多小喇叭都有，如ProAc 1SC, FA 688, B & W 805S, Dyna 25, Ensemble Refernce........

但我發覺用這些喇叭去聽小提琴都唔準，好假。

根據過往玩PM的經驗，我想要run in對VP大約要4至6個月(每日唱起碼4粒鐘) 才有八、九成聲。

我一百個巴仙認同 rcwy 兄的詳盡聽後感，我對 vp 到今應還沒完全煲透，但以過往經驗，新喇叭未煲前只有約七八成聲，現在的 vp 應已經達八成幾聲…

每對喇叭都有它自身特別音色，這就是玩的樂趣。
而音色又與個人口味，聽歌種類有直接關係。

如果當天不是有 tannoy mini 作比較，我想 vp 仔的表現已足夠大部份愛樂人仕需要…

tannoy mini 的貴氣高頻是反映它售價的價格比…

我到現在還掛念tannoy mini 的貴氣高頻…

只是 3/5a 獨有的彈絃音色(叫它彈跳力不知合否？) ，沒幾對喇叭仔有帊搹n味。這是我初聽我的 vp 仔後之感覺。


有勞 rcwy 兄幫忙再煲煲vp仔，讓我有空才領它回去，再與我其它喇叭仔比較一下。

The first statement is true.

The 2nd statement is over simplified and the Pure Malt did not 輸左幾條街, just a little less desirable compared to the legendary LS3/5A 15 Ohm verison and the Tannoy Autograph Mini. It certainly won the KEF Coda 7 and 8 many streets and a value buy for the price in my humble opinion.

Don't forget that BBC has a long history of speaker designs and has achieved a legendary status for its LS3/5A, BC1, etc.. It is hard to beat LS3/5A in mid-range and vocals. Obviously the Pure Malt cannot win the LS3/5A in vocal and in high range. But this does not mean 輸左幾條街. :)

Pure Malt cannot win the Tannoy autograph mini in the high range too. Its performance in the mid range and bass is not worse than the Mini in my view. But, note: the dealer's price for Tannoy Autograph Mini is HK$18,000 a pair!

Thanks for Tony, lending to me his pair of Malt Bucket speakers. The Malt Bucket was played and A/B compared with the vintage JR Metro tonight.

JR Metro was designed and made by Jim Rogers in circa early 1980s. It is only slightly larger than the Malt Bucket. Surprisingly the Japanese Malt Bucket sounds very alike the English JR Metro in terms of "character" or "culture".

My comments on the pair of Pioneer Pure Malt were:

This is the main actor/actress of this thread! I was surprised to see so many supporters of this small speakers from Japan, a place many said lacking an "audio culture" like Europe and USA. The "Pure Malt" proves that Japan audio got a culture! It does not sound "edgy" as many Japanese speakers did in the past. As many have pointed out, the "Pure Malt" actually does NOT have a reasonable high extension, but the mid range is surprisingly good. Its overall performance in soundstaging is amazing!

My pick (i.e. chosen and to use) on Pioneer Pure Malt was:

Pioneer Pure Malt to show a lack of bias against Japanese speakers.

This statement requires some political sense and humour. :)

I never said so, but it is not unreasonable to suppose so if "sound impact" is at all important. I guess 100 to 150 sq. ft. should be reasonable for Pure Malt.

12 to 35 Watts from tube amps may be just right.
