- #165 [Thanatos], 17-05-09 22:34Alfred Dunhill says in his book "The Gentle Art of Smoking" that small pipes are best for thin cut tobacco. Modern pipe smokers think that Virginia flakes taste best when smoked in a tall and slender pipe.
The final consensus: Mixtures which contain several kinds of tobacco should be smoked in a pipe with a large diameter, so that more kinds of tobacco could be combusted simultaneously and this may improve complexity. Those plain/unblended Virginia tobacco with a high sugar content should be smoked in a pipe with a small diameter in order to reduce the rate of combustion, giving rise to a cooler smoke.
In my opinion, slow puffing is the key to a perfect smoking experience, regardless of pipe shape and size.

is it true that small bowl is good for smoking flake tobacco? - #162 [Thanatos], 17-05-09 08:54Very nice Dunhill pipe SB.
This tobacco should glow merrily in it: - #161 [seanbeer], 17-05-09 07:39Trying out this tiny group 1 pipe
- #160 [seanbeer], 17-04-04 13:30Aromatic gives good room note n quite enjoyable, less kick vs English, yeah burns quite hot, I liked it.
Without hard liquor I rather die - #159 [cpu8088], 17-04-04 07:49my dream pipe
s bang blowfish - #158 [Thanatos], 17-04-04 06:49Beware of tongue bite my dear friend. Aromatic tobacco has a higher sugar content and tends to burn hot. Some of the toppings are made of ingredients (such as chocolate, syrup, wine or even whisky) that should rather be drunk or eaten than combusted. The burning of those ingredients may produce substances that may cause chemical burn.
The key to avoid tongue bite is to smoke really slowly, and to avoid drinking hard liquor at the same time which doubles the effect of mucosal injury. - #157 [seanbeer], 17-04-04 01:30First aromatic, very enjoyable indeed
- #156 [Thanatos], 17-03-26 17:03Castello sea rock is highly praised by many pipe connoisseurs, and this particular example costs only a few hundred HK dollars more than a Peterson:

- #154 [Thanatos], 17-03-26 16:08You may detect the off taste when the bowl is heated up, just sniff the external wall of the bowl.
- #153 [seanbeer], 17-03-26 15:58Well Peterson is all I can afford and want to spend at the moment.
No comparison, so I won't notice the off taste - #152 [Thanatos], 17-03-26 14:53Amber root, two flames!!!!! Rather costly.
