- #2 [welborne], 15-05-21 14:39Many people messaged me and ask about the various models of Bastanis amazing products:
Here they are:
1. The flagship is Open Baffle system called Mandala Chrystal. This is the one I have. It comes in twin 12" midrange or single 12" version. All Chrystal version drivers are specially coated and treated with shiny lacquer of violin oil and mineral crystal powder for tunning (hence no crossover inductor needed).
The top version comes with 18" woofer in a very special ripole bass bin that emulates dipole pattern to perfectly match the main baffle sound on top. Tweeter is also dipole Gemini tweeters with huge magnet.
2. There are lower models of open baffle system without the suffix " Chrystal". These look similar to Chrystal version but without the extra cone treatment, hence cones are not shiny. It usually pairs with a cheaper standard tweeter. You can choose different bass solution: 12" woofer, 15" woofer in sealed box.
3. Then below these are all non-open-baffle system. They are all very efficient Back Loaded Horn cabinet using either a 15" wideband drivers ( Matterhorn), a 12" widebander ( Wildhorn) and finally the cheapest and smallest of all a 10" wideban drivers (Rothorn). The 15" version having the higher efficiency and the 10" being the least efficient, but it's still 93db.
Then Bastanis also have on offer matching speaker and intercnnect cables, as well as a tweaking gadget called Magic Twins which are some kind of rf/emi filter for purifying the sound, not unlike what Walker Audio have too. - #3 [welborne], 15-05-21 14:42Robert Bastani in doping process. Every drivers whether its tweeters or widebanders have been subject to special violin-lacquer treatment (similar in theory to C37 dammar) by the very man himself. Each doping session takes about 8 hours or coating, drying and baking.

The last few years I have been enjoying the wonderful sound of Bastanis open baffle (kit, built myself) and have been maintaining another thread "the creation of my Bastanis" here on review33. Without repeatings things I will not copy and paste here what I wrote there. People who are interested in my personal journey with Bastanis can visit that thread.
Let's start a new chapter here. A new dealer has just taken up the promotion of Bastanis line of high-efficiency speakers in Hong Kong so I hope we will see more lucky users posting here.
