- #4 [Office], 11-05-01 19:23SL2, watch out the woofer may not catch the speed of the excellent electrostatic.
- #5 [daniel-chui], 11-05-01 21:17Office hing,
Thanks! - #6 [olddude], 11-05-02 00:12I have been using a pair of Sequel II since 1994. I am a "panel" man so, what can I say? The "speed" of the woofer may be slower than the electrostatic panels then again, I can live with it. Apparently such is not a problem with the recent generations of ML speakers. As with all panel speakers, they need a lot of room to breath (I wish I could pull them out further but then again there are domestic issues). The static panels also require regular vacuuming and don't bother to get a pair if you are a smoker (or use incense intensively at home) as air borne pollutants can degraded the mylar film in the panels. As with the sound, go to listen to one in their showroom and you would understand why one could get hooked and kept a pair for some many years.
BTW, they suck power like no tomorrow and require very capable power amps as their impedance can go very low at high frequencies (e.g. the impedance at 20KHZ of the SummitX goes as low as 0.7 ohm).

Does the Martin Logan speaker need 300W power amp to drive it & 1000 feets(SQ) listenning room ?
Thanks ! - #8 [olddude], 11-05-02 19:25A 1,000 sq.ft. (!!!) listening room? I guess 300W power amp may be a bit tight. I am using an Integra Research RDA7.1 (150W or so) with my Sequel II in a 14x13 listening area (the actual room is even bigger with the nearest side wall about 5 to 6 ft away, the other side is the dinning room) and listening to large scale orchestral music is just OK.Then again the latest generation of ML speakers are more efficient at 9dB/W (I think mine is like 89dB/W).
最後修改時間: 2011-05-02 19:27:06 - #9 [wychan], 11-09-13 22:04is this worth to repair the SL II? I have been putting it the storage for many years.
- #10 [mr.paul], 11-09-13 22:11attempted to buy martin logan several times, given its seductive treble. well, eventually gave up as it requires quite a bit of regular maintenance. i'm not too sure but humid hk weahter is apparently another risk for this speaker.
- #11 [projectx], 11-09-13 22:12
- #12 [wychan], 11-09-21 22:52yes, it cost 7000 parts + 1000 labour.
- #13 [projectx], 11-09-22 07:32wychan hing, have you show your speakers? I've done it and it work! http://www.martinloganowners.com/~tdacquis/forum/ML/Martin%20Logan%20Quest%20Stator%20Panel%20Shower%20Washing.pdf

projectx hing, wonderful article!!!! :-)
Today's Martin Logan are absolutely wonderful in integration of the bass.
They are also much easier to drive.
Much neglected are the lower models. I own the wonderful SOURCE, it's cheap and I can drive it with 300B! Great sound!

I have seen the Source in Mong Kok, but price is higher than in the US.

Mind to share if your Allegro 300B is SE or PP ? - #17 [bigcircleson], 11-09-23 05:51My good old Martin Logan CLS beats all the Maggie’s and Quad’s hands down in the coherence department. The sound’s so “live” and the sense of presence so striking ----- I dished out seven grand (Canadian $$$) of my hard earned money within 10 minutes upon entering the dealer’s show room…..
- #18 [doctorjohn], 11-09-23 06:36
In HK, there is a very vocal Maggie and ESL crowd, prone to big talk and putting down everything else.
Somehow Martin Logan people are much more civilized.
ML is definitely neglected in HK. - #19 [projectx], 11-09-23 07:58Condefly2 hing,
My Allegro 300B is SE, sound is powerful and sweet. I used it to drive Altec A7 with satisfed. - #20 [Condefly2], 11-09-23 08:14Good morning,
