Linn Isobarik design brings cleaner and deeper bass than others of same volume of enclosures.

Decca International unipivot tonearm + MI cartridge + Garrard TT are synergistic. Naim Aro is modelled on Decca International tonearm but less versatile.

- #42 [Myers1], 11-10-11 14:08Despite I am not a vinyl expert, I won't forget the Pink Triangle. A breakthrough to the turntable by using acrylic platter, a formidable contender to the Linn LP 12.

- #40 [Myers1], 11-10-11 11:43Do not aware that Crimson was represented by 明發行? 明發行 has carried many high quality alternative products but they almost make a mess on every product, to name a few such as DPA, brainchild of Rob Watts renowned for his pulse array design in his DAC. Keswick Audio designed by Dean Hartley (now chief designer of Monitor Audio), its Figaro speaker easily KO Phil Jones' AE1 and has been acclaimed as one of the best miniature speaker by HiFi News & Record Review. NVA, Ruark, Myryad, Lynx. The only successful story is probably AR, NAD and Monitor Audio. The shopkeeper is now working in another dealer in Central.
- #39 [bien], 11-10-11 10:37IMF transmission line speakers of 70's later renamed TDL. Just auditioned a pair of IMF TSL80 at friend's home. They are the best transmission line speakers without tunnel effects usually associated with such design. Very good separation among instruments, smooth, silky, stress free just like hearing in concert hall. Guess its top model Reference Standard Professional Monitor should sound even better.
Thanks Myers. No wonder Crimson sounds resemblance to DNM to some degrees - clean and enchanting - at just a fraction of DNM's price. Should get a chance to hear new Crimson to verify if they are as good or even better than the old ones. In those days, Crimson was represented by 明發行。

- #36 [Myers1], 11-10-11 09:35Yes, I favour smallish cottage hifi producers. My first DAC is the Pink Triangle Ordinal while my first tube amp is CR Developments' Romulus. I have also used NVA's TES CD player and its Sound Pipe. Now I switched to smallish hifi producers from the Euroland.
What a coincidence, I studied at Dagenham, Essex, the bottom ranking Poly in the late 80s and lived near West Ferry DLR Station. Maybe we have met before. - #35 [chinaimamn], 11-10-11 07:29Hi myers1,
You seem to me that you know pretty well about those small Hi-Fi makers in Essex area.
I studied in Essex University and used to live in Colchester.
I met Roy(Rega) a few times through a friend who ran a shop. - #34 [Gary138], 11-10-10 23:53The legendary Quad ESL 57!

最後修改時間: 2011-10-10 23:46:53 - #31 [myers1], 11-10-10 21:18Another UK classics, LFD (stands for Low Fuzzy Distortion) Mistral designed by Dr Richard Bews and Prof Malcolm Hawksford of Essex University. Appeared in HK during the 90s with the NVA. Now the LFD is still in the market with amplifier like Zero, Zero silver signature, NC se but in a very low profile.
- #30 [myers1], 11-10-10 21:05Another rare breed CR Developments, many UK audiophiles don't recognise this brand as it is more famous in N America, the Japs like it very much.
- #29 [myers1], 11-10-10 20:55Another quirky figure in the UK hifi scene, Richard Dunn of NVA. Minimalist function as seen by its black box series. No protection circuit, no biwiring facilities (actually strongly oppose). This is the line up of their black box and Statement series. The Statement series sounds very transparent. Built quality surpass its commrades in the UK. The Statement series are quite successful in the SE Asian market. Now he changed his sales channel only available in E-Bay and the prices are quite reasonable! Production is still in Epping Essex UK.
