- #1274 [ptcm], 14-08-24 20:16Having tried various setups, including
1) SBT/W4S DSDse DAC
2) Windows/Jriver/ W4S DSEse DAC
3) Macbook/Audiovirna Plus/ W4S DSDse DAC
Given that all 3 setup was connected to a router/NAS with CAT7 cables on Naim Supernait2/NAP200 bi-amping,
3) Sound better by the largest margin on various type of music. Perhaps it's Audiovirna Plus or perhaps it's Macbooks' overall sonic capabilities. I am not sure, but conclusion is very clear.
最後修改時間: 2014-08-24 20:24:27 - #1273 [falcongate], 14-08-20 15:53I have a wifi network up and running after setting up wlan0 with wpa password. Using my macbook to join this network, I enter the preset password (nothing fancy, just 12345678). A few seconds later, the connection is rejected for "invalid password".
Maybe I should try adhoc mode one more time; my failure last time could be caused by the lack of a dhcp server. -
- #1272 [beeos], 14-08-20 14:43you need dnsmasq as DHCP server.
then wlan0 use 10.1.10.1
(write this in /etc/network/interfaces)
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet static
address 10.1.10.1
netmask 255.255.255.0
broadcast 10.1.10.255
up iwconfig wlan0 essid voyage-adhoc mode Ad-hoc
and dnsmasq (/etc/dnsmasq.more.conf) you need this:
dhcp-range=wlan0,10.1.10.10,10.1.10.250,24h
dhcp-leasefile=/var/tmp/dnsmasq.leases
that should work.
How does the password mean? I don't understand - #1271 [falcongate], 14-08-20 14:11At least I've got dnsmasq installed now. The problem of wlan0 still persists; I keep getting complaints about incorrect password, which I don't understand why.
- #1270 [falcongate], 14-08-20 04:06Although I have set the static ip to be identical, I have not really tested it as I want to have the server network stuff ironed out first.
I could not even boot up the voyage image from sd so I used pecovnik's. I figure this build should have all drivers and stuff.
Tried pecovnik's access point script as well, set static ip to the bridge and got the wifi network up but could not see anything there. Then I find out this build does not have dns server so clients cannot get ip addressed assigned. Tried apt-get dnsmasq, but keep having problem connecting to those debian source sites.
BTW, my squeeze device is actually a daphile machine... - #1269 [beeos], 14-08-19 17:28So
1. SBT connects to eth0 and both are using static IP? Make sure SBT can see the music library in your cubietruck.
2. For the wlan part, it is quite complicate. First, double check can your wlan0 gets IP or not. Run "ifconfig" and you should see IP address under wlan0. If no, you need to start DHCP server and define a fix IP for wlan0
For detail about setup wlan, please refer to this:
https://wiki.debian.org/WiFi/AdHoc
Pecovnik's debian image is quite different that it is a minimal version with lot of tweaking, so you should also check how to make the wifi work in pecovnik's web site:
https://github.com/igorpecovnik/Cubietruck-Debian/wiki/FAQ
http://www.cubieforums.com/index.php/topic,1275.0.html
It said the DHCP server is ready but disabled...
I have tried using this image but failed, I found that Voyage MPD for CB2 is much easier in my case so I go for Voyage MPD. I hope you success with this debian image and share with us the steps, good luck. - #1268 [falcongate], 14-08-19 16:43These are my steps:
- booted up my cubietruck with igor pecovnik's debian image.
- set eth0 to static ip
- flashed to my cubietruck's nand.
- downloaded and installed lms 7.8, following the raspi guide.
- plugged in a hard drive, visited:9000, and did a database scan.
- edited /etc/network/interface to start wlan0 in adhoc mode, using your blog guide.
- rebooted, checked wifi network with my iphone4s;
- found adhoc link, switched to use the adhoc, but then iphone did not get showed wifi signal and switched to cell signal
- tried logitech's squeeze controller, which failed to pick up any squeeze player.
Please let me know if you need anything. Thx a lot - #1267 [beeos], 14-08-19 14:23Hi falcongate,
Can you be more specific what steps you have done and the hardware that you are using? Thanks - #1266 [falcongate], 14-08-19 13:48Re #1209
Hi beeos 兄,
I have been following your guide to set up ad-hoc mode wireless connection- the wlan0 setup is identical except for essid. I use my iphone for testing. Although my iphone can see my cubie ad-hoc net, once I switch to this ad-hoc net, my phone does not ahow wifi to be on. Do I need to do anything else? - #1265 [mahi], 14-08-17 17:17No I don't have supra. I tested powersync and planex and both are directional, with same effect as I described. You can try yours and see.
- #1264 [Ptcm], 14-08-17 17:00Mahi Hing, Supra? What brand so bad?
It does feel faster on cat7. Not sure if it’s psychological but tempo between notes are shorter consistently.
Need at least 4-5 cat7 for the SBT setup.
最後修改時間: 2014-08-17 17:05:59 - #1263 [mahi], 14-08-17 12:26damn these cat cables are very directional too. i'm sure it's nothing new to old hands, just to remind other newcomers like me :)
in one direction there's a lighter sound with more treble, in another direction it's more grounded sound with more density. so i don't know what's happening within but apparently manufacturing standard is pretty lousy for these patch cords.
- #1260 [mahi], 14-08-16 23:25I only know very little about lan cable Becoz its only very recent that my system has low enough noise level to warrant attention in this part.
But I would say powersync cables arent very good so don't bother with it. Planex is a better choice among cheap ones. - #1259 [ptcm], 14-08-16 22:04if all CAT7 can deliver 10G speed as a standard, does it really matter what brands it is ?
If you have only one CAT7 for time being, would you put it between NAS/router or SBT/router ?
最後修改時間: 2014-08-16 22:05:21 - #1258 [welborne], 14-08-16 20:30These arrived in mail. Supra Cat7+
- #1257 [aabman], 14-08-16 19:18KEYDEX CAT7 SSTP Lan cable
Try this, cheap and effective, only a few hundred dollors. - #1256 [Ptcm], 14-08-16 11:41How much sonic improvement can iFi bring to the table in approximate % terms?
20%? Or 10%?
Sometimes I wonder if it would make sense to spend so much on accessories for a $2K SBT relative to spending it on getting better speakers instead.
For those Ching who experiencing better results from iFi, do you find a better LAN RJ45 cable also helps? If yes, which model?
Thanks

爬了咁多thread, here on r33, there on highxxxdy, computeraudiophile, diyaudio, etc etc etc … some say PC with W8 better, some PC Linux better, some Jriver better than Jplay, some the other way round, some swear by Mac and nothing else, some will embrace standalone customised streamers but nothing else. Most of these claims are from people who said "i tried them all, believe me, been there, done that..etc"
就是各自各精釆,各據一方,r33 同其他forum 才咁busy.
