- #42 [kenkc2005hk], 12-07-11 20:44Did you audition Majik 140?
- #43 [doglover], 12-07-12 08:34Hi I had tested the 140 when I bought the DS-I. I feel like it is balanced and well fit. Just in another occasion also tested the Elac 247 (but not with the Majik DS-I) and I feel impressed by the soundstage although it feels like a precise machine and may not be as human as the 140. As both of them are of similar price range, may the expert chings here could provide some advise for me, or comment on both? Thanks.

Is synology ok?
最後修改時間: 2012-07-22 08:36:14 - #45 [kenkc2005hk], 12-07-22 08:58I'm using QNAP which is fine.
- #46 [charleslinnfans], 12-07-28 14:12any ching upgrade to Davaar 8 ?
- #47 [spiwel], 12-08-03 10:00in my own opinion..
Davaar7 seems better..
I am using Akurate DS/1 + mbl 7008 - #48 [rumnyc], 12-08-07 16:18i use synology. its works perfectly. just put all the music in the built in folder. everything works without any installation/setup.
- #49 [rumnyc], 12-08-07 16:22I compared the Majik 140 and Majik Isobarik with the DSI and the Majik 140 sounds amazing and perfect. The Isobarik sounded muddy like the MDSM didn't have enough power. I think you need aktiv bass minimum for the Isobarik otherwise 140 is better (and a lot cheaper).
- #50 [charleslinnfans], 12-08-07 16:59MDSM - 2 channels of 90 W Chakra amplification
For sure not enough power to drive Isobarik.
Even Majik 140 is 4-way speaker, like Akurate 212, can use 8 channels total to turn it onto aktiv mode.
最後修改時間: 2012-08-07 17:00:21 - #51 [rumnyc], 12-08-08 08:39at reasonable volumes, the MDSM can perfectly drive the 140. that has been my experience.
- #52 [charleslinnfans], 12-08-08 17:29of course also depends on what music genre you are listening.
if vocal, I think still fine, but if it is classical music, should not be enough power - both treble and bass will be blur.

I recall some old discussion in Linn's DS forums.
People also discuss about types of Lan cable.
One chap raised a good query.”If CAT7 cable could make sound better than CAT5 & CAT6 cable. He thinks CAT7 could also improve his Microsoft Excel programme to be more accuracy………”
Sure $200/m experience cost is no harm and fun. But it seems not quite logic in digital world?
With my limited knowledge, a digital TV decoded signal (either a perfect decoded digital picture nor no digital picture at all; there is no in-between)
I guess audio digital signal (before DAC input)
are more or less the same. Any suggestion?

Is synology ok?..........
Linn recommended QNAP NAS in their technical forum for their DS set-up. I also followed their suggestion and trouble free for 3 years.
Better check Linn's update whether they still recommend and support QNAP NAS for their DS now. - #56 [rumnyc], 12-08-12 17:14i use synology without any issues. cat 5 is fine. cat 7 is useless other than for you to feel better.
- #57 [wwwhk], 12-08-12 17:25beside cat7 cable, "SSD improving sound quality" is another ridiculous thing.
- #58 [rumnyc], 12-08-12 18:43why not put the NAS on isolation feet and upgrade NAS power cable and use only SSD?
- #59 [charleslinnfans], 12-08-12 23:28I use Synology DS211 and also ok.
As a matter of fact, different LAN cable will affect the ds sound. Believe it or not ... - #60 [rumnyc], 12-08-13 14:20there is no scientific basis to hear a difference as long as using Cat 5 cables.
Everything played on a DS is over ethernet buffered and not subject to any kind of speed or timing issues (unlike spdif/or optical digital).
If you are having bandwith issues, then the problem is with the switch or router and no cable will solve it but it is very rare to have this problem.
so there is no fact or evidence to back up your claim on sonic difference between ethernet cable other than your words.
if you could hear a difference maybe placebo effect. let me guess, the expensive cables sound better lol... - 下一頁 (3 of 9)

I tried to open another thread to ask about speakers for my Majik DS-I but it maybe better to ask here. I am currently using Proac Tablette 8 but I wish to change to a floorstand speaker of about 20000 budget. Would any chings have any recommendation? I am thinking either Linn 140 or Elac 247. Many thanks.
