_____
I would focus myself finding the right speaker before you look for electronics.
I saw a pair of the Flagship Spendor ST at Mong Kok only selling for ..... , the range you mentioned for amps. I heard very decent sound at Hifi show where the CEO of Spendor demo his speaker with Luxman electronics.
With this speaker, you can get very decent sound with modest electronics like the Exposure 3010s2 or even the Cyrus 2 or Cyrus 3.
I would not find a speaker to match an amp to start with, unless you know the amp well and pretty sure that you love the sonic character of the amp.

- #64 [Rosenbloom], 11-11-24 17:48Thanks icefox_2001 ching for your valuable advice.
Perhaps I should put it in this way: Why do I plan to buy amp before speakers? Because I now only have a very cheap JVC mini HiFi. If I buy Super HL5 or A9, I will have no powerful amp to drive them! Poor me =.="
I had been using Harbeth for more than 8 years (P3ES2 to P3ESR). I always target my next speakers to be Super HL5. But now I am also tempted by floorstanding speakers. Spendor is another brand I love and therefore I also put A9 on my list.
Apart from Harbeth and Spendor, I know little about other brands and have no other favourites.
Several days ago I was told Octave makes excellent tube amp (sound, power, craftmanship). Unfortunately I still have not yet auditioned their amps. It seems that Octave may not have a good synergy with British sound speakers. Am I right?

- #66 [nan], 11-12-02 18:59我認為octave 有一種很特別的味道,是我聽音樂以來未有,有音樂感,有氣氛,有一種廹力,想多些人分享下聽歌經驗,交流一下。
- #67 [bobpinpin], 11-12-04 17:10agree!!
- #68 [will03], 11-12-06 00:47totally agree but i have to change to separate amp soon....
- #69 [bobpinpin], 11-12-06 21:40brother will03, it is sad that you have to leave the Octave family.Hope that one day you could come back with jubliee pre and power amp combination.
- #70 [will03], 11-12-06 22:49Julibee is a dream product with a dream price tag...
V80 has very good sound and very good price tag. No regret. If i am using another speaker, i think i will keep it for a long long time. - #71 [dh555], 11-12-06 23:09My Jubilee in 2004

最後修改時間: 2011-12-06 23:26:35 - #73 [bobpinpin], 11-12-06 23:51DH555 brother, how could you describe the difference between 500SE and Jubilee pre?
Is it a matter of taste or clarity, density, airy or sth else? - #74 [dh555], 11-12-07 00:40Jubilee is more refine but still the old Octave sound.
It has to be match with Jubilee Power Amp.
For 500SE, it is easy to match with other brand power amp or Octave Power Amp.
Jubilee is similar to AN M10 but M10 has a better musicality than Jubilee mainly because Jubilee using SS PSU while M10 is using Tubes.
1 ppoint I have disucssed with Andreas that the Volume Control is too... - #75 [bobpinpin], 11-12-07 11:28DH brother, are you using Jubliee power amp as well? I checked from the websites, they are very huge in size and power.
As I remember, you are using Verity Audio speakers that require less power to drive I suppose. - #76 [dh555], 11-12-07 12:22I used the Jubilee Pre-Amp.
I could not affored to buy a Penta Power Amp for half a million.
I stick with 300B SE Power Amp from US Brand.
Now in Full Suite. - #77 [bobpinpin], 11-12-08 03:18dh brother, I think 500Se has the same problem about volume control...
Great to hear that you got the 1st Jubilee in Asia , may be you can show us other substitute pre amps that cost less but with similar or better quality than Jubilee. - #78 [dh555], 11-12-08 08:16Yes, Octave use standard ALPS Volume control but Andreas said it is stable.
I think musicality is more important....
Ka ka ka....
It is a long time though..
However, it depends the 2nd hand price for 500SE now but still need to use good tubes.

Would you put Octave V40SE and Leben CS600 in the same league? I once listened to CS600 very briefly. The sound was also clean and neutral.
