- #111 [oakley999], 04-07-15 00:26I have bought two pair of Double Cross 3082 from Welmar. He said he doesn't charge me any labour charge, but when I go there to have it made by Jason. He charged me the labour charge leh.... why?
- #112 [eve1312], 04-07-15 13:20What are the characteristics of Mogami's speaker cables ?
Are they quite neutral sounding ? - #113 [jttlee], 04-07-16 19:08Any comment with mogami speaker cable?
By the way, anyone can share his experience with 2534 interconnect? On my system, it gives a very good soundstage. However, the treble part seems not to be very clear.
Not sure whether it is the distortion of my old interconnect or whether 2534 reflects the limitations of my system. (Old interconnect is Delta OFC, cost around $2xx.)
I'm using Cambridge Audio D500SE + A500 + Mission 780SE.
Thanks. -
- #114 [hifi233], 04-07-16 19:32I'm using 2803 RCA (Japan) for source and I used 2534 RCA there before. My experience is: I never have any intention to go back to 2534 after using 2803 - it's much much more transparent and clearer in my system and the bass is obviously better (though not excellent in its own right), resulting in better tonal balance. Both cables are very neutral and 2803 also has good price-performance ratio if compared with much more expensive cables. Just my little sharing.
- #115 [rickymartin], 04-07-16 20:08The treble of Mogami 2534 is very good in my system. I had tried many interconnection cables from $100 to $1500 range but I still vote 2534 the best.
Recently I bought a pair of 2534 for my friend. After several days of comparsion, he said except the smoothness of vocal, 2534 wins his $3000 cable in all other aspects. - #116 [rickymartin], 04-07-16 21:12Hi jttlee,
I think A500 is not powerful enough to drive 780 well. You may consider to buy a tube intergrated amp to pair with your 780. I am sure that you will love the sound. - #117 [Monster], 04-07-16 23:38Just to said Hi to everybody, Good evening. ^_^
- #118 [jttlee], 04-07-17 10:58Hi hifi123, thanks for sharing. However, 2803 is around 10 times more expensive than 2534. It is too costly for my current system. But really thanks for sharing.
Hi rickymartin, thanks for your info as well. By the way, I'd like to try mogami speaker cable as well. Do you have any experience for sharing? I prefer clear and transparent sound. Do you recommend mogami cables?
By the way, many people mention A500 is not powerful enough to drive the Mission 780SE. How do we know an amp has enough power for a particular speaker? Is there any way to measure? Or we should use our ears to judge? Actually I plan to upgrade the amp but don't know how to judge whether an amp is good or not. Should I bring my speaker over for an audition?
Thanks! - #119 [rickymartin], 04-07-17 20:29Hi jttlee,
I borrowed a pair of Mogami 3103 speakers cable from a friend. It works well with my system. (Philips CD850MKII & hybrid pre+power combo & LS3/5A)
The sound of 3103 is very netural, quite dynamic and very clear sound. Highly recommend to limited budget users.
As far as the amp, I think the best way is to borrow a tube amp from your friend and compare with your A500. It is very easy to hear the difference.
780 is a very good speaker. The weakness is that it is rather power hungry. Besides, as the bass unit is made of hard material, the sound is fast but a bit thin. The best way to overcome the weakness is to pair your 780 with a medium power (>30W per channel) tube amps. Those made in China tube amps are not very expensive. It is easy to buy a decent quality one below $4000. Hope above information can help. - #120 [cclkelvin], 04-07-17 22:45Hello all, I'm also an user of Mogami 2534.
I bought a 2nd hand piece several months ago and did AB test against the interconnect using at that time including AQ & VDH. However, I couldn't hear any difference and since then, I didn't believe those expensive wires. Of course, those VDH & AQ were let go for Mogami. Now, I own 3 pairs Mogami 2534.
I just invested the proceed from sales of AQ & VDH to upgrade my amp, and it's much more worthwhile than upgrading the interconnect. - #121 [jttlee], 04-07-18 11:53Hi rickymartin, really thanks for sharing your experience/comment! Yes, my next target is to change the amp to match with 780. However, I'd like to know the limitations of my current system first before spending. I have spent quite some time dealing with the resonance and power issues. My experience is that resonance on the source (i.e. CD) has a great impact on sound quality. Spike positioning really affects the sound quality a lot, at least on my D500SE. (Speaker positioning is more difficult due to space constraint. *sigh*)
Hi cclkelvin, I think there are just too many "snake-oil" in the HiFi world. It makes newbies like me difficult to make a good buying decision. This thread is a good read. https://www.review33.com/avforum/forum_message.php?topic=41040716125612
At < $200, I'm really impressed with 2534!
By the way, rickymartin, is 2964 suitable for the yellow video cable used in DVD? I don't know much on AV stuff. Hope you don't mind the silly question. :-) - #122 [rickymartin], 04-07-18 12:02Hi jttle,
Try to test your existing system using some bass intensive CDs. I don't think your A500 can deliver deep and powerful bass. Besides, the vocal will become more "thick" and "musical" if you pair your 780 with a decent quality tube amp.
Mogami 2964 is a 75ohm coaxial cable which can be used for video purpose. This cable is really outstanding. Very cheap but excellent in quality. - #123 [rickymartin], 04-07-18 12:13Hi jttlee,
You can leave your name and contact telephone number in my mail-box. I can talk to you over the phone about your Hi-Fi setup and Mogami cables. - #124 [cclkelvin], 04-07-18 16:46Hi jttle,
You can ascertain if your amp has adequate power to drive your speaker by:
1. Check if the sound pressure increases linearly when the volumne keeps increasing.
2. Check if the bass becomes thinner when the volumne is being turned larger.
3. Like what ricky mentions, pay attention to the movement of the bass driver when pay fast, rock & bass heavy music, you can feel if the amp has enough control over the speaker.
Hope this helps. - #125 [Monster], 04-07-18 17:06loud bass but the bass unit can't see movement(Or very very fast movement). then, means your amp have enough output power that control your speaker.
Just my experiences only.
Happy listening. - #126 [hkrainman], 04-07-19 09:48Hi,
I wonder if anyone can tell me which Mogami speaker cable can produce the high of 3082 but retain neutral midrange of 3103.
I tried 3082 on my floor standing N803, I find the high very good but mid a bit too quick and lean. 3103 have good bass but not so great at high.
I read all the comments at this club but have not heard too many comment on which mogami speakers cable is good at high/mid at the same time, since is this how most floor standing speaker's binding post are seperated.
Appreciate your comments!! - #127 [junkfoodboy], 04-07-19 11:412 wire to signal and 2 to ground?
4 wire to aignal and outer shield to ground
any one try both ways? Please share. - #128 [herman], 04-07-19 11:432 wire to signal and 2 to ground, the shielding connected to one end only, not both!
the shielded end connected to source or receiver end? should try - #129 [rickymartin], 04-07-20 21:09Mogami speakers cable 3082 and 3103, which one is better match with tube amp + LS-3/5A ??
- #130 [rickymartin], 04-07-21 20:59I had tried many cables during the last few month. Till now, I find the following set up delivers the best sound in my system:
CDP -> DAC : Mogami 2964 coaxial
DAC -> Pre Amp : Tara Labs RSC Master Gen II
Pre Amp -> Power Amp : Mogami 2534
Speakers cable -> Mogami 3103
I tried to replace the Tara Labs cable with another pair of 2534. However the vocal is less good as Tara Labs.
I am very happy with the above set up as it can deliver very high quality sound in almost all kind of music: The vocal is sweet and smooth; dynamic sound in whole range; the bass is clear, fast and tight.
Just for all Mogami fans for reference. - 下一頁 (6.5 of 61)
